I'm talking about Gaga refusing to go on unless Liza was in a wheelchair. Is that true, or is it just made up, or an exaggeration ? If Gaga did refuse, what was her thinking ? What condition was Liza in ? That kind of stuff. Just watch the clip. Liza was clearly not having a good night.
Phantomhive 2,058
I guess those of us who thought that Gaga shouldn’t have attended that year’s ceremony for the HOG snub were right all along In I fly on wings of winter.
bim 775
It seems like this was a poorly managed situation, both Liza and Gaga were probably stressed, and they both chose to be gracious and kind. Respect to them both for that. Liza is visibly embarrassed, struggling to hold her cards, says something along the lines of being unsure what to read, seems confused, and Gaga chose to step in. It seems that’s not what Liza wanted, but this is a live program, it’s not like Gaga can just be like ‘hey Liza, what’s going on, can you read this, how can I help you right now?’ She just moved the show along. Gaga is not perfect, and I absolutely choose to believe she’s neither a bad person nor that she was only kind in the moment for good PR. 2

That is shade. Omg it’s so shady I feel sorry that she was put into that situation and felt that way Edited February 21 by elsamars
Killa 18,551
That Was so awkward. This probably was more on the producers fault but the way Gaga handled that really didn't help.

Honestly the shaking and her behaviour as a whole Is no different from many appearances from Liza before. But yeah She wouldn't be able tò walk alone in that state at all. But Jesus two escorts would be Better than appearing in a wheelchair. Or She could Just come with Gaga. For sure She would complain no matter how It went lol

Liza is not mad at Gaga, she is mad at the person at the Oscars who made a choice that she needs to be in a wheelchair. Gosh... 🤭 I mean she says “My co-presenter insisted she would not go on stage with me unless I was in a wheelchair. I was heartbroken.”

Korkira 125
This is ridiculous, why would Gaga be in charge of who and in what way there will be someone with her and on which side? Aren't people in Oscars comittee or whatever deciding that? Nobody is mentioning that maybe Liza wasn't in her best shape because of her condition and Gaga simply suggested that it's maybe more comfortable for Liza to sit down on a wheelchair? I don't know it's just not making any sense to me. And the fact that Liza and Gaga have been each others fans for almost 2 decades... Borisapillar 10,059
Also imagine if Liza didn’t get wheeled out and FELL on live television. Gaga would be devastated. If Gaga did express that she wanted Liza in the wheelchair, I have no doubt it was for Liza’s safety. It’s not Gaga’s responsibility to make sure Liza holds on tight to her arm and doesn’t fall as Gaga escorts her to a director’s chair. 4

She's very motherly but I guess it can be taken as condescending for some people Yah, I was thinking this too. We've seen this woman speak the exact same way to people younger than her, the same age, older, her elders, etc. She's just a natural caretaker whose instinct is to soothe Whimsical bitch
Hadrian 1,758
me as a full-time caregiver rn: I don't know what happened backstage moments before that clip, BUT I CAN KIND OF IMAGINE LOL. and honestly? it's not just a slay—it's powerful. 1
FATCAT 60,830
I just went to re-watch the clip and Gaga couldn't have been more gracious during what seemed like a senior moment to everyone in the room. Liza started off with "I don't understand" and then stumbled over her words a few times. I get the feeling, after being around older people all my life, that this is more of a "saving face" comment than something grounded in reality. Whether intentional or not, its a misread of the whole situation. This kitten over here (meow) 3

The comment about not doing it at all without her in a wheelchair sounds like Gaga was saying "Well we shouldn't do it if it puts you at risk" and Liza read it completely wrong.
