I confess, I’m not a huge fan of gore. But 3 has easily the most memorable characters (after 1), imo.

1 is the blueprint
4 is a breath of fresh air (after a needed break)
2 is a forgettable copy-paste
3 is the campiest, most meta & most fun
(borderline Scooby Doo vibes)

Scooby doo vibes is so accurate for 3. I think the camp and more overtly comedic tone is why some people (myself included) like it less than the other films. I prefer actually scary moments and everything in 3 seemed aimed for laughs. But I still enjoyed the movie over all just not as much as the other ones.

It’s a 30-year-old franchise. Many of us are emotionally attached to the original and second trilogies, but the newer installments? Ghostface just keeps SLAAAAYYYYING.

You can clearly see those Scary Movie vibes in Scream 3 humour

Not my fave but I liked the change of tone making it very special in the franchise

They def internationally tried to do something different with 3 and even the casting of Parker Posey and Jenny McCarthy and Patrick Warburton signalled that it wasn’t taking itself too seriously and was going to be much lighter in tone.

This one is going to suck, too

(It wasn't bad but quite disappointing)

I'm sorry, man 🫤

In your opinion, did Marco Beltrami create a memorable, characterful score?

Or was it more lifeless, meandering background ambience like in 5 & 6?

I just got home from watching this. There was a pre screen tonight at 7 pm and tomorrow is the official date. Can’t wait to discuss it this weekend!!

I went there with my casual clothes but had a black hoodie and used the mask to take a picture next to the poster but there were a couple guys wearing the full costume and another with t shirt and hand bag, etc. this was fun.

It reprises some signature sounds from the first 3 movies

So, after watching the movie on early screening; it's Scream 3 all over again, sans the camp. It is so weak and uninspired, they were going in a good direction with the previous two entries and to throw it away was a bad move.

All those early reviews does not lie. Worth pointing out that critics/RT is far more generous to horror films than it was when Scream 3 came out so the score looks worse by comparison :franminervini:

And yes, let's circle back a little bit, the firing of Melissa Barrera, which also causing Jenna Ortega to leave in solidarity (though she never blatantly saying it), was a ridiculous thing to happen and its fair to bring it up. Also, it’s fair to bring up since this is the reason why the movie turned out this way.

Love Neve, and love how she was back after being done so dirty by Scream movie people, so happy to see her happy during promotion tour, but with all due respect, this movie is weak. And imho after such ground breaking opening week money, I feel that the second week drop will also be legendaric. :bradley:

Oh well, at least the collectibles, (the pop corn buckets & cups), are iconic still

I disagree, the movie was enjoyable for a scream movie, I think the movie actually shows that Melissa and Ortega are not needed for the franchise to move forward and they served their purpose, they are the bridge between the old and the new, but now the old can continue the story.

Also, once again, the fact that the movie smashed in first day previews shows that nobody cared much about Melissa and Ortega and this screaming minority can continue to Scream.

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
