Agreed. Which is so sad, since, as someone who has been on this site since 2010, I remember the excitment this site used to have. Overanalyzing her imagery and artistry, discussing her vocals, getting excited with every interview and appearance. It was so fun. Now that stuff is still here, but you have to comb through endless anger and disappointment in every thread just to find it...

I think it comes down to the fact we’re a mixed age fanbase now, back then we weren’t really as mixed age range wise. Although I will say there’s always been backseat drivers like I remember on GagaBoards when people were saying Bad Romance wasn’t a good choice nor a radio friendly song and look at it now.

You've got people like me who are almost the same age as Gaga all the way down to their late teens on this site now, different life experiences and people who were there when Gaga was the Gaga they want her to be like again. Being nearly 40 isn’t the same mindset and opinions as 20 sadly.

Some are forgetting that when she made strong public stands against injustice in the past Troy used it as one of the excuses he made to leave her as her manager. She freaked out, almost quit music, then pulled herself together and worked with Tony, then had the comeback of a lifetime.

Now she's in the best place she has ever been, career-wise and romantically. As mentioned in a previous post, Apple is guilty of far more serious and monstrous crimes than flogging real estate. It's obvious where Redfin stand politically and what kind of buyers they want for their homes when they asked Gaga personally to campaign with WYBMN. MAGA buyers will invariably refuse Refdin's services, which is a win.

Calling for her head after that ad aired is insane, when speaking up alone, if not navigated carefully, could cost her everything she’s worked for and reopen profound trauma.

This woman has risked her life many times over for the causes she believes in. For that she has my respect. She was always gonna speak out.

Exactly! In the UK right now there is a big discussion about immigration and there is a man called Nigel Farage who is basically a British version of Donald Trump and he also spews the same hateful rhetoric. The world is going backwards in terms of equal rights for all people.

it's strange to automatically assume Gaga using her (large, important, much-scrutinized) platform to speak up would ever be solely because she "saw backlash" online. can we give her some credit? being halfway across the world, rehearsals, performances, rest, etc. she may have needed a second to gather herself and may have questioned whether speaking about it while abroad was the right decision... ultimately, it was and she did. 

personally, I think she knows how much weight her platform comes with and at this stage in her life/career, wants to engage it in a considered way. unfortunately these days it feels like there is no "right" way to condemn anything, even in my local Chicago queer community there is a lot of in-fighting about who is performative, who is not, who needs to act, who is exempt, etc when we should be standing together with grace and power. 

this doesn't mean I am not critical of ANY AND ALL wealthy/celebrity/elite people... but I do think it's important to negotiate how and where we spend our (rightfully) enraged and grieving and disoriented and overwhelmed energy

I'm glad she spoke about it and wrote a speech...even though she wasnt in America and some in the audience don't speak English that well or at all.

She knew people were filming and would post about it. She knows the WORLD has been watching in horror as the US is imploding. 

It's also important to remember that many are going to start campaigning for the midterms and all of this public condemnation against Trump, his administration, and Repiblican MAGA ideology is extremely relevant and important.

I only went to the Chromatica Ball three times 'cause I got to travel to DC and LA (and Miami ) and take @SharkmanthaC and @ChicaSkas and my grandma.

I'm only doing the Mayhem Ball three times 'cause I get to take @ChicaSkas twice in LA and a couple more people who've become really important to me. One especially  but also his friend who went into total shock when we surprised her with a VIP ticket to see Gaga. And that's what it's really about

She posted a TikTok saying she was working after a GGD mess saying it wasn’t clear what she was doing during Pride, she/her team 100% read GGD (at least sometimes) and it’s basically the go-to place for anyone who wants to know a little more about what Monsters are sharing. The media uses it as a source of information and I even know a quite notorious person (who has nothing to do with Gaga or music for that matter) who uses it regularly to read what people have to say/try to get private info about leaks and company. We might not be a whole lot of people on here but we’re the seed of something. Kinda like some Telegram groups but more accessible.

And to link that to the original post of this thread, I don’t think it’s a negative thing at all. I think it’s normal to read what people say (especially on forums as opposed to social media) to get to know more about a situation and decide how to react to a situation. It doesn’t necessarily mean “I want to do what I can just to protect my image” at all, it can totally be about reading people’s honest feelings to decide how to react to the disastrous situation. Some people will be hurt by the events, it can be necessary to listen to people to make sure to make the best decisions for their well-being.

I support her on that topic. I genuinely think she wants to do her best right now. She could do more but she has her own personal fears like anyone, it’s only human.
