As someone who’s Apple Music Replay is always topped by Ed and Gaga, I had no idea this song was released.  

I think a lot of his fanbase seems completely unaware of the “Deluxe” version of Play because we got the “Expanded Edition” on streaming like a month ago (he’s going full Taylor and now there have now been more songs released from this album as bonus/deluxe tracks than were on the album initially, which makes me think he combined two albums but that’s another story).

While a promo single not debuting high for him isn’t uncommon, I feel like his last four albums haven’t had the same traction he used to.  Equals had one hit and a couple other songs that charted decently well.  Subtract and Autumn Variations were—per Ed—not trying to be commercial.  However, for what he has dubbed his “return to pop music” this era feels weak.  

Unlike Katy, I think Ed will always have a strong career.  He had the highest-grossing tour of all time, and will likely be selling out stadiums for the foreseeable future.  Yeah he might downsize to arenas eventually, but I think he’ll remain on the scene.  One thing about him is that I think he genuinely doesn’t care about success and sometimes wishes he didn’t have his level of fame—he literally sometimes goes and plays intimate theater shows between stadium gigs.

While Gaga will always be my number one and I sincerely have gained so much strength through the community here, I often feel like this site over-hates on Ed and Taylor.

Sure you can dislike her music or her marketing tactics but no artist I know of does their best numbers by their 12th album. So can we please stop this prophecy of this major flop era for her. I think her time will come someday... When? Idk but ageism might be the main factor for that to happen. I don't think we'll have to wait til she's in her 50s, by the beginning of her 40s people might be starting to question why is she writing like she's still a teenager
