This may seem like a very random question but I don’t know where to find this. This is kinda too long for one single word but I’m just curious cuz I’ve heard that word used so many times but I was never given any context or explanation for it.

Why are so many people referring to Gaga’s fanbase as “Liddos”. I know that Gaga calls her fans Little Monsters so why are there so many people on social media calling you Liddos? What is the lore and the story behind the word Liddo? When did Liddo become a thing and who started it? Is Gaga aware of this and has she ever called you Liddos? Is there a negative connotation in that word and does it bother you when people refer to you as a Liddo?

Thank you, Liddos!

I don't understand this fanbase. There are popgirls that have literally come and gone after Gaga and have already fallen off while she is STILL consistently getting hits. Gaga's own fans are her worst enemies.mp3 for real. Take a look at the vast majority of her peers and appreciate the fact that her artistry is still on top 17 YEARS into her career as a POPSTAR.

Just shut up and take the win :Cautious:

#1 in the first week in the streaming era means nothing, it's irrelevant, the goal is longevity and cultural impact, anything else is a bonus.

In any case, other fanbases will call it a flop, so why should we even care.

Beyoncé and Taylor are literally the only ones that have anything on Gaga, commercially speaking. So idk who is gonna be calling her a flop. :awkney:

You maybe tired of this narrative but it is the truth.

We need to acknowledge the fact that pure sales are almost dead. 136k pure sales is pretty good to be honest. Many people here just overestimated the sales and I already know there would be disappointments. We can't expect Gaga to do numbers like Billie and Sabrina who are more relative to the new generation. Taylor also have a dedicated overwhelmingly high teenage girl fanbase who can make their parents buy albums for them. When we consider streaming, this is definitely her peak, so there's nothing to complain. If Chromatica didn't have tour bundles it would've sold in a similar range.

However unlike Chromatica which dropped off to 68k in sales in the second week, I believe that Mayhem will have more longevity in charts and streams. It's already showing signs of stability.

I think this is important to remember. We have to get it through our thick heads that this is a new generation who have different taste in music. Gaga still getting #1’s is an accomplishment in this day and age of hip hop ruling over a lot of the music industry/GP approval.

I'm Chloe. Except the C and the L are silent.

This is GOOD, insane consistency almost 2 decades into her career:

ARTPOP: 258k
Joanne: 201k
Chromatica: 274k
Mayhem: 219k

This suggests a strong and dedicated fanbase that will never leave her :traumatica:

and Chromatica numbers might be better but that was because the tour bundles boosted the sales :Cautious:

Not only that: I see a lot of teens knowing Gaga music because of this album. New fans in the making!! :firega:

Nevertheless, the album is a bop. Everything post BTW doesn’t get the immediate attention it deserves anyway. It took ARTPOP 10 years to gain respect :icant:

what are you even talking about lol... MAYHEM is her most critically acclaimed album yet, what more respect are you asking for

I’m talking about the general public, obviously. This is a post about album sales, not critical reception. GP respect and critic respect are two different things and often times don’t align unless you’re Adele or Beyonce.

I haven't brought one in ages due to $ but i had to for this :)  it really is outstanding for some of the songs!

Depending on your hi fi set up, Abra for me sounds better on my sub woofa bluetooth but disease & some of the 80s vibe songs - zombieboy & shadow sound outstanding on vinyl! You really get the vibe of mayhem!!
