Bronco 9,395
Honestly the numbers are great for a female pop act nearing the end of her 2nd decade as a Major pop figure. Like the next album is going to come out once she's in her 40s. If y'all can't cope with numbers like this (which get her a #1). You are not going to survive the way the industry treats 40+ year old women lol

We cant compare TFM to today, very different era and time. I do think the album as a body of work has better hold than its singles alone (poor Abra ) Playboi Carti will take to top spot next week. Will Mayhem repeak? maybe cause rappers tend to fall off quickly. I can see it staying in the top 10 for several weeks, but if fans are expecting it to rebounce back to #1 and stay there for another 4-5 weeks…IdK i wouldn’t be so confident about that. But as long as it doesnt free fall I think its great. EDIT: Coachella weekends could boost it to #1 for sure The scattered big shows she's doing for seemingly no reason are strategic. Copacabana? Huge. Mexico? Huge. Malaysia? Huge. Coaches? Huge. Each one will be a headline snatcher for their country. That generates buzz & streams/sales. The reason I compared it to TFM despite being a different era due to streaming, is that it kind of works the same way for gaga. She has always been promo sensitive because she is a performer who the masses don't know what to do with. The TFM endless promo caused a surge in each location to get that album SOLD. First week sales aren't ever going to be the general public til they've already heard songs they like & so far she's at 2.5 tracks, of which there's been one performance that's been accessible to the casual listener, which was SNL. I'd hazard a guess she will do the late night shows when they want to push the album further once coaches buzz dies down.
Emvee 8,160
I was expecting at least more than Pink Friday 2 Either Monsters are cheap af or there aren’t very many of us. Cowboy Carter doubled this. Nevertheless, the album is a bop. Everything post BTW doesn’t get the immediate attention it deserves anyway. It took ARTPOP 10 years to gain respect Edited March 16 by Emvee 3

I'd hazard a guess she will do the late night shows when they want to push the album further once coaches buzz dies down. Coachella will definitely boost it yes. All the other shows outside of the US could help with global sales, and indirectly the top 200. But by the time they take place (except coachella which is soon), the albums could have already left the top 10-15. So all indirect boosts would have to be massive for it to climb back to #1 in the US. Outside of social media buzz, I’d be cautious to think this scattered shows will cause a significant surge in sales. The main strategy for these shows is likely to make a profit and cover the marketing costs, not to boost album sales cause that doesn't bring any money. Hype up a tour probably as well. These concerts are key to making the era big enough to have a presence. But that is something entirely different from keeping a high chart run. Especially since none of them are in the US. So anyone who starts streaming as a result of these live shows wont contribute to the top 200 Personally, I wouldn’t do late night shows until November, when Grammy voting begins. Maybe throw in the VMAs in august and Billboard Music awards in December Edited March 16 by andy232000

I love Chromatica and Mayhem so much. I love ARTPOP and Joanne too but with less intensity.

She is also outperforming a lot of Gen Z artists (which is good), as well as a lot of her 2008 debut peers, like Katy, Kesha and Miley, but is still outpaced by other artists like Beyonce, Billie, Sabrina, The Weeknd and obviously Titans like Taylor. I hope one day she can go from a mid-high tier sales force to a high one. Her consistency is very impressive and thats something to be proud of too

It took ARTPOP 10 years to gain respect LMs are nowhere near as toxic as Barbs and thus don't have their entire personality and pride placed in Gaga's commercial performance. Also, wasn't Nicki releasing album versions with new songs almost daily during the release tracking week? And it's not surprising at all in this economy. Streaming numbers are going to carry a lot of releases in the near future, and it showed with Gaga's best ever streaming week.

And overall lifetime units over 500k in the US (due to DWAS, Disease and Abracadabra) Thanks sis

freebit 6,221
3 hours ago, StrawberryBlond said: Forgot about bundles, so yeah, that's partly why albums sold so much better back then. And the world was in such a crazy place that it was amazing it did as well as it did. She's also a much bigger streaming force and streaming almost matters more than album sales these days. Most people stream singles and albums as oppose to downloading them now. So that amazing 219 million stream opening week is a lot more telling than copies sold and more than makes up for the lower album sales figure. Chart position means even less than it used to nowadays because streaming's where it's at. And definitely the locals are a lot more interested in Gaga right now as getting her songs to hit status has never been down to the fans alone. She's not been this cool and relevant in a long time. We're close to Beyonce level resurgence as she approaches her 40's which is amazing. Yeah, I've noticed that she has the elitist music critics back on her side, as well as pop stans in general (not just the die hard monsters). This feels like she could take this good opening and make it grow into a all-timer of an era, like Bruno's 24K Magic and Dua's Future Nostalgia - which both had solid openings, but were great albums that were given room to grow. I really REALLY hope she doesn't just throw in the towel like with Chromatica, and gives this the energy it needs to reach its potential with videos and performances. For example, Beyonce kept promoting the hell out of 4 despite it not being a huge album at the time. With Mayhem, Gaga's got gold, and I hope they treat it as such. Hopefully Mastercard comes through. 2
