I wouldn't even call that a break either 'cause within that time she filmed a movie, went on tour, released a remix album for Chromatica, released another album with Tony, and finished up most of Mayhem.

Well, by couple of years I was meaning 2030 earliest. But it's not super relevant to ponder over timeframes. What I really was meaning in general by saying she'll be out of the "celebrity zeitgeist" is that, where in the nearly 5 year break between Chromatica we had 2 films, a soundtrack single, 2 Jazz albums and a residency, I think when she breaks her career to prioritise having a family, I don't see her spending much of her time on these other projects either.

the woman is a total workaholic... she may take some time in total privacy and silence a little while after the child is born but she will for sure be working on lowkey stuff

I do hope she takes a lot of time  off to have a private life raising her kids. She deserves it. Music will come when it's ready. Plus, as many people have already mentioned in this thread, motherhood can inspire so much untapped territory as it did with Madonna.

She can still write and record music when pregnant, so she might "disappear" for like a year max after giving birth, but that's not even that long period after all when you think about her career..

When I heard Mayhem it conforted me that she won't desapear. Because it's not an album just for the fans, it's really an album that she likes and that she made FOR music. 

If she did a totally dark pop album, I would be worried because it would just be one last fan pleasing with a tour before leaving for a decade. 

However, I think we must accept that she will be leaving for a moment after Mayhem. Gaga is a private person and is protecting her-self. Let's just enjoy all these interviews and the massive tour that is coming

I think she realized that she doesn't really know what the future holds. That is why she hasn't announced a new film role, because the filming schedule would be mandatory. As many have said, it is more flexible, if she want to make music in some way in the next years.

Of course she won't disappear. It might take a little longer for new music, but why are we acting like women can't have their musical careers and their families?

Gaga's not just a person who happened to get into music. She's passionate about it and I'm sure motherhood is gonna inspire her in beautiful ways.

I’m am totally fine with her taking a break to be a mother after all she’s givin us but I’m very happy to know there will always be music

I knew this would be how she'd feel, but it's nice to get verbal confirmation for the fans who are concerned. Gaga lives and breathes art, she'll always be creating, pregnancy or not. I could totally see her going into Madonna/Beyonce territory of taking a bit of time off to have a baby and coming back with fresh inspiration and some of her best ever work. She might have less music videos, shorter tours, less interviews, etc. but I could totally see her continuing to make music. Plenty of women have done this for decades, I don't see Gaga of all people suddenly wanting to devote herself completely to motherhood. I would certainly like the idea of her pursuing other creative projects in her downtime, like more movies or writing songs for a musical (Tony award, here we come!) so she can still add more strings to her bow that aren't completely solo music-based. But there's no way she'll just disappear for years on end. Even if she thinks she wants to, she could always change her mind before too long. Lily Allen was going to give it all up after children but she came back when she realised she was bored stiff being stuck at home all day and missed the great feeling her career gave her.

@monketsharonaThe thread title should be changed as it is completely misleading and NOT WHAT SHE SAID!!!!! She said she doesn't know, not that she will not disappear. And at the end she confirms her child will always be priority #1. Just because music will be part of her life that does not mean she will record or release new music.
