Am I the only one who hears that? It ruins the otherwise really nice song for me Let the hate begin. I think very few people will hear it and even lesser will actually care. It’s not a stripped down live performance ala Jazz and Piano so I don’t see why she couldn’t do it. And I think she’ll use it more on live performances for shows since many POP stars are using it, and for a good reason. These effects will not completely alter their voice though so we’ll still her tone. but yeah, expect more since as technology is advancing, and so are the equipments they are using Edited December 23, 2024 by FFXIV WhiteMage

A singers voice LIVES through its slight imperfections, they add soul and flavor. All these "live" performances lately that either use live pitch correction or are pitch corrected in post production sound utterly soulless. If anyone would like to find out more, I can warmly recommend the YouTube channel 'Wings of Pegasus'. She always stood against it. I believe she won’t get dragged into this trend. For recorded live performances that’s a different story. Things tend to get polished in post production and in some cases they become too polished, but that remains a POST production issue. Small bits of GCB were a little too corrected, Happy Mistake Live didn’t need correction. Loved them anyway. We’ll see how things are going to be with future performances but I don’t really think she’ll use any kind of live tuning. What I think we could see in future Gaga tours could be Gaga saving energy leaving the intense parts of choreo to her dancing crew so she can save them for vocals and also do something good for her fibromyalgia. “Forget the auto tune, she doesn’t even need a mic” Edited December 27, 2024 by ChromaticaBoy

It's electronic music, it's pretty much normalized to do that, and she have said on recent interviews with Rolling Stone that there are a lot of ways to make her voice interesting, and mentioned autotune as one of the example. That’s a different story. The way I am approaching the topic and the way people were talking about this in the previous replies is in fact, using autotune as a way to correct imperfections and out of tune vocals in live performances. With studio records, it’s a completely different story. Cher was one of the first to use autotune to manipulate voice and make it sound cool and not because she couldn’t be in pitch singing “Believe”. She’s such a good vocalist, why would she? Same thing for Gaga. Vocal manipulation is one of the things Gaga is a master in, both with her plain vocal chords as well as with software post production, but she’s not using this voice manipulation to improve bad vocals. For that she can just do a new take. The way she uses these softwares is she usually creates layers of main and backing vocals and gives them different types of effects/manipulation to create depth and complexity. There’s always a small degree of polishing to studio music, but that’s to make it sound like a studio recording. In that, Harlequin is pretty untouched. Yes, Santa Claus has some imperfections in post production, but we also need to remind ourselves that they had a short time frame to record a song both visually and sonically and put it out on a Carpool Karaoke Special as well as on streaming platforms, all before Christmas. I don’t think Gaga will hop on the trend of using autotune or pitch correction to polish her vocals during concerts. Again, recorded live performances? Idk… GCB, HM LIVE, and Santa Claus all had some degree of vocal correction and I don’t love it (GCB needed just a spot correction, some parts are a little messy with the correction, HM I don’t think needed it at all, same for Santa Claus. Again adored them anyway) but this doesn’t mean she’ll use that live in real time at her future concerts. I really don’t think so.
