eifulien 2,529
I low-key miss the late 00s and early 10s when the American "taste" matched the one in Europe. I feel like since the trap wave from like 2017-2018 onwards the hits in the US and the rest of the world have diverged so much. Now you look at the US chart and it's so local, irrelevant and random that it's like looking at a small unknown country's charts. 1

Yeah its interesting how Europe & the US have diverged so much over the last decade. With Europe maintaining the pop supremacy. Wonder if we'll see another British invasion or something similar sooj in the US

I noticed this too, like when I was in US last month the radio hits are so random and not what I expected, a lot of country crossovers and stuff. That Teddy Swims song was on every 15 mins I swear

The current state of it is just... When I said I miss those times I referred to the fact that Europe and the US would "agree" on what's popular hence what's pop music. The quality of the music itself from that period (despite matching Gaga's peak) is questionable to say the least. Can't say I miss much the "put your hands up in the air" post-recession feel-good pop.

I just...I just want complex sounding music again So many top songs these days sound like they were made by a garage band algorithm or something. It's boring I'm just like 🧍♂️ 1
