Reject False Icons 4,657
And I don’t mean it in a Stan wars way I mean it, if the more “educated” the artist is the fandom more “educated”? And if that’s the case, the more educated the fandom the easier they can stop supporting the artist? Is there supposed to be a balance of not too smart not too dumb to keep a long lasting relationship with fans When an idol only has a relationship with their fans of I love you thanks for everything and the fans only say I love you you are perfect is it going to be long lasting or too distant to maintain a with time? PartySick 145,417
Of course, but it's not always the case. I consider myself to be part of four fandoms: MJ, Janet, Gaga, and Lil Nas X. Moonwalkers absolutely behave like MJ did. Very kind, creative, and dedicated fanbase full of lovely people. I can hop into any online conversation with MJ stans and it's just a warmth that I don't feel from other fanbases. They can also become extremely defensive and exhibit diva moments (like the man himself lmao). MJ's fanbase is also likely the largest in the world, with an estimated fanbase of 4.8 to 6 billion people. From big cities to remote tribes, everybody stans. So that's pretty cool Janet's fanbase is pretty similar 'cause they overlap a lot. There's more disaffectedness though. Maybe that's the right word. They worship her as a queen but rarely get into pissing matches with other fanbases. Except for Madonsters and even then it's only returning fire that's pretty true to who Janet is as a person. She's confident but stays in her own lane. She's got her own stuff going on. Everyone here knows how similar Monsters are to Gaga. There's less "support" 'cause we grew up and Gaga's far less active than she's ever been. She hasn't even performed her lead single yet And for Nas, I can personally attest that his fans are just as hilarious, obnoxious, unhinged, adorable, lovable, creative, feisty, and iconic as he is You gravitate to people who accentuate the parts of yourself you like best. MJ's altruism and "one world"ness, Janet's activism and sex positivity, Gaga's LGBT iconry and willingness to talk about uncomfortable topics, and Nas' Zoomer energy Same with Nicki and her mean spirited petty stans or Taylor and her stat obsessed stans. They're absolutely reflections of the artists they follow. Not sure this is what you meant but there's my opinion Fanbases pull away from artists when they find they have less in common with them as they continue to grow. killme89 1,154
Gaga fans usually tend to always be …alternative? Idk just my observation, including myself.
