RahrahWitch 6,979
If alcohol, a much more destructive drug, can be widely used recreationally then I don't see any argument you can make for why weed couldn't also. 10
A Very Gaga Holida 21,986
He is so right. I never thought I’d say that one day but he couldn’t be more right. Weed should stay illegal and alcohol and tobacco should become illegal too. Just my opinion.
buzzkill 5,024
It can be addictive but to led to other drugs depends on so many others factors. also the medicine effect it has in my opinion is enough for it to be legalize.

Prohibition will never work as a policy & will actually make organised crime stronger. 2
Hennycomb 3,419
Honestly, I don't agree with him in terms of it staying illegal, cause legalizing ends trafficking and violence. BUT, I agree it's addictive. I have been smoking every day for around 8 years and I don't crave other drugs, but I crave weed like a crackhead. Yesterday I was crawling the walls of my apartment the entire day waiting for my dealer. It also makes my ADHD peak, it makes Ritalin not work, and I procrastinate and become a potato. Worse yet that it's illegal here and you get what you get. So, for me, I reached a point where it's doing more harm than good. Long time use of weed is not a walk in the park like a lot of people make it look, but also, anything can be addictive, too. This is a grey subject.
Hyoha 1,612
Of course he thinks that way. He’s been extremely anti-drugs, including alcohol, since he got clean. He’s a major addict who’s worked very hard to not do drugs anymore.
littlepotter 74,657
Right ideas but wrong conclusion... I do agree (from what i have witnessed) that smoking makes you lazy and overindulgent when it comes to food at best, and paranoid and anxious at worst. But criminalizing it is not the solution just like criminalizing alcohol wouldn't solve any of its issues and would instead make people do bad things to attain these substances. chaeri pls
Gardevoir 9,722
Not every person that smokes marijuana will get addicted to it. Alcohol is legal so what’s the point? People are going to smoke if they want to anyway, so why make it illegal and even worse by not regulating the product? Edited December 12, 2024 by Gardevoir Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
timdrake 629
I think it depends, person to person. I've had spells of months on end where all I did was get high after work, and it definitely felt addictive then. But like... alcohol was MUCH harder to quit. With weed, once my current stash was gone, I was a like "okay I'm so full from having the munchies for two months. I don't want anymore" I haven't had either in 2+ years now, but while weed CAN be addictive, I don't think it's fair to say it 1. leads to other drugs, or 2. is any more addictive than anything else. dopega 3,705
I used to smoke weed in moderation when I was younger but eventually I was deeply addicted to it. I was high almost daily for 5 years straight. I quit a year ago and it was the best decision I've made. That being said, I find Elton's statement quite humorous. There's definitely bigger issues than people having fun and blazing some lettuce to chill. Edited December 13, 2024 by dopega

Same with tobacco. Agreed major hunch that cannabis is the least harmful of the 3. Given tobacco abuse we KNOW leads to cancer, while alcohol abuse leads to numerous health issues and ACTUAL, medical addiction where the body cannot function and sometimes dies when it no longer has the substance but yes Elton. Cannabis is the WORST mistake to ever happen….
Bobina 1,581
He's right when he says it's addictive. I was addicted to it for years. Smoking every day, all day. If I didn't smoke, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, and I'd be so nauseous I'd be dry heaving. And worst of all, the anxiety I got from not smoking and from smoking was just awful. I'd never had a panic attack in my life. But deep into my addiction to weed, I finally had one and embarrassed myself by calling 911 because I thought I was having a heart attack. I do believe there needs to be a more honest conversation about weed's ability to be addictive. It's not a miracle drug with zero consequences. HOWEVER. It should absolutely NOT be illegal. Like, eye roll at that. If alcohol remains legal, then so should weed. Alcohol is, without a doubt, the worst of the two, both on your body and on its impact on society.
JgHaus78 1,904
Ones lack of self control does not define the narrative for everyone else who can safely use marijuana recreationally. Of course it’s a deep subject, but like some people can confidently walk into a bar and get a drink and it be just that. Other people it’s a downward spiral. To put both of those types of people in the same box is ignorant.
