It was the same as the Madonna show, she only announced it like officially a week prior, the stage was already being put together… so idk what the strategy, but maybe she will only confirm it next year.

The Globo article says the deal has the deadline of December 15 to be signed and that the mayor plans to announce it only on January. We ain't waiting until January, it's too close and things get too pricey. That's why I think he starts dropping hints not so subtly.

i think they might announce gaga earlier because it's basically already confirmed while madonna's was a rumour a lot of people were afraid to believe until close to the announcement, while gaga is being teased by official trustworthy journals

I don't think Gaga will break the record because Madonna is much more respected in Brazil and has fans across all generations (my parents went, my homophobic uncles watched it on tv lol) there was every kind of people there

I think it will get harder to watch her closer tho because Gaga's fans are younger in general and willing to get there earlier to see her since all that has happened between her and us (born this way ball and rock in rio)

I think the coolest thing about it is that it is an experience. The town was breathing everything madonna for a whole week and people were talking about it for a whole month, parties would play her deep cuts like nothing really matters which became basically her anthem here since it was the opening song

I suggest you guys watch some of Madonna's show, it was truly beautiful

I was not so far from the stage but I could only see her when the stage went up. But there were soooo many people behind me I couldn't even see where the crowd ended (and neither did she because she said it during one of her speeches. There's a funny one where she looked kind of annoyed because she barely got to finish the sentence since we were screaming so loud at her lol I just know Gaga is gonna cry a lot) 

There are some insane videos people recorded from the buildings in front of the beach with the crowd singing like a prayer and hung up 

It was also pretty controversial since at the time there was a flood in south of brasil and conservatives were blaming her and the government for holding the show and spending public money (false acclaim, since it was held by Itau bank) while people were suffering. A good thing is that she wore the brazilian shirt with Pabllo which was and kinda still is a symbol that got associated with the far right movement in here, so after the show we kind of reclaimed it in a beautiful way honestly even I wear it sometimes now lol 

I wish she would rehearse at the stage like Madonna did, but I doubt it. Madonna is known for rehearsing before every show of hers at the stage so we actually got to see her thursday and friday night for like an hour. She also rehearsed inside copacabana palace so I guess that's what gaga is gonna do

 

I want to know EVERYTHING about how you prepared for it. Like, how early did you get there? What did you do to go to the bathroom? What did you bring? How did you leave? If she does come, it's gonna be my first Gaga concert and my first massive concert experience so I'm anxious and clueless

I got there around 6 pm. I was planning to go around 2 but I was hosting a friend from another state and he took way too long to get ready  we stayed next to the second set of screens in a pretty good spot because there were two trash cans in front of us lol so there weren't people right in front of us. And in front of the trash cans there was a guy selling beer so it was perfect for me hahah

I left my phone at home and brought an old one with a chip just in case I got lost from my friend, an old camera and some snacks that I didn't eat.  

There are a lot of public bathrooms but mostly on the side so I don't think it's a good idea to go and try to come back or you might get lost. Since it's at the beach, you can just dig a hole in the sand and pee like most people lol or even go into the sea. Everybody around me was peeing in the sand or in plastic water bottles and throwing it away. 

I left like everyone else by metro which was crowded as **** even tho we waited like 30 minutes to go to the station, I don't think there's another alternative since the uber was like 4 times the regular price, but the metro was working just fine. I'm really impressed with the security and transportation logistics for the new years and the show, you don't have to worry too much about it.

i'm praying my heart out that they will close the deal for the concert to be set in the second semester so me and all other working class (and unemployed) monsters are able to fight their colons off to get to that front stage. i'm already investing big savings to see Kylie in São Paulo, for me to also see Gaga i'll need TIME to raise them coins
