Of course I don't know how it all works but I wish Billboard didn't have a monopoly/complete control over the official charts lol they clearly have bias and personal opinions

What do they mean error? Their articles are probably read multiple times by multiple people before being published. This is NOT an error :laughga:

Error in judgment :huntyga: I chose to believe that the intent with including that image was to show how culturally significant and integral she's been to the the 21st century and whatnot. I don't think they would do this out of malice or for clicks like you said multiple teams have got to have approved this and so I don't think they would do themselves this dirty. They're really out of touch sometimes and I'm glad they're catching some heat for it (rightfully so), but thank god swift hasn't mentioned it so it wouldn't get out out of hand so we can all move along.

I mean as others have pointed out Kanye & Kim not only illegally recorded the call. They then edited it to present a false narrative. And we that to be the case because in 2020 the full phonecall was leaked and it backed up Swift's long maintained version of events.

So why are you yet again in a Taylor Swift related topic chatting absolute ****. Like this thread is about a woman being on the receiving end of what is essentially sexual harrasment. And you're acting like this.

What are you even talking about? I don't know if you don't know what actually happened or are just purposefully getting the story wrong because you don't like her, but she didn't lie about the situation. She told the truth about what their conversation was (that she okayed one specific line reluctantly, but was not told what the rest would be nor about the video).

Kim & Kanye are the ones who lied. They edited the video to make it appear she was agreeing to all of it, when that's not what happened. So they smeared her publicly and turned the whole media tide against her and only when she had already been the subject of all of that and released reputation did the actual truth come to light.

Hi I'm just going to respond to both of you at once, since it seems you guys just want to attack my character. I didn't feel it needed to be said that what Billboard did was wrong. I'm also not a fan of Kanye, and I think both his lines "I made that bitch famous" and "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex" are gross, as well as the wax figure. I understand why she'd be upset about it all. But the thing for me is she wasn't upset by it all.

It's funny to me she thought it was a compliment that her and Kanye might still have sex. And that she then acted all outraged, as if she cared about misogyny when the song actually came out. To me it very very much feels like Taylor acted friendly to Kanye not expecting him to have proof she egged him on. Then act like she knew nothing of the contents of the song. No, she didn't EXPLICITLY deny some parts. But she didn't need to, because her rep's statements and her speech very much implied a lot of those things. That's what we call spinning a narrative. First it was a vague "his song is bad", then when Kim comes out and says Taylor knew, they just say "much of what she said is incorrect." And that her and Kanye only talked once while she was on vacation with family in order to detract magnitude that the conversation actually took place. But what all is incorrect? They're intentionally leading the audience to conclusions that can't actually be made with the given information to make Taylor seem like the victim in the situation. Isn't it weird she initially wanted to outright acknowledge that the phone call took place when the phone call was happening? But her team didn't acknowledge the phone call until Kim and Kanye talked about it?

Taylor Swift being Taylor Swift doesn't take away from the fact that Kanye was completely disrespectful to women in his lyrics and video, or disrespectful to her as a person. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend like she's not changing the narrative, even though she allegedly wanted to be excluded from it and then promoted an entire album around those events. Funny she has capitalized on everything she's ever had an issue with, right?

I won't judge people defending Taylor with receipts because as a Gaga fan I know way too much about random details as well, but the Taylor dislikers coming with whole receipts with timelines is something else, I would never have that much energy to spend about someone I don't like :toofunny: Or maybe you're Kanye or Kim fans which makes it worse lmao

Still lying about what was said to suit a narrative.

Taylor's legit first response & only negative public response to the contents of the lyrics was a speech where she explicitly talked about not letting men take the credit for your success as a woman.

And every response to Kim & Kanye's antics beyond that continued on with reference to her objecting to that claim in his lyrics & then to the revenge ****.

I'm literally doing non of this so why do you keep making assumptions about my beliefs? Discrediting a woman's success is misogynistic but claiming a woman owes you sex doesn't sound any better. And the fact that Taylor didn't acknowledge that on the phone is funny considering her takes on misogyny following this.

The fact that you refuse to recognise the nuances of this particular  issue or the deflection and lack of personal accountability by Taylor reps initial reaction/statement is surprising because I expect you to be objective or atleast not try to intentionally take my words out of context and accuse me defending Kanye and much less Billboard for this mess.

I guess when the stan hat comes on the thinking cap has to go off. We can agree to disagree on this issue.

Again I did acknowledge it and said id discuss it in a relevant thread. And I agree with you - although as you want to stick to the 2016 narrative before Kardashian kult got called out - under their narrative that lyric was changed to "might still have sex" instead of "might owe me sex" because of Taylor raising the sexism in the song as an issue.

You openly said you are judging her for calling out a man taking credit for her success. If you're mad at me commenting on this then perhaps reflect on what you said.

Because it was pretty clear you think it is a bad thing that Taylor Swift called out a man for taking credit for her success. And I stand by my judgements of your character for doing so.

Cameltoe Chariot

You guys need to chill the f*ck out :littlepotter:

This tea is so stale - the video has been out everywhere for over a decade, and as someone who worked in media for 7+ years I can promise you that there are very little checks and balances for social content. There's likely one person at Billboard who approves visual materials for social media, and they probably skimmed through the video without paying much attention. That's on them, and on whoever lacked the awareness on how sensitive that clip is.

But to think or suggest anyone did this on PURPOSE and risked losing their job for no reason is insane :alsemanche: the "community note" on that tweet is also so over the top and ill-informed... saying "Billboard did not make an error as the video had to be approved by multiple staff" as if these terminally online stans know the inner workings of Billboard's marketing department.

Imagine this was an honest mistake, and now some young content manager is losing their job because of an angry mob on the internet making this out to be some calculated smear campaign. Like... there's bigger fish to fry, folks. A rapist just won the White House... AGAIN :madge:

tldr: Kanye sucks, the video is abhorrent, Billboard f*cked up and apologized - MOVE ON.

Girl, I'm not mad at you, but if you’re standing by your childish, baseless assumptions to deflect and gaslight me, then there's not much left to discuss. please don't respond to me until the thinking cap is back on.

I'm assuming this is indirectly referring to me so I'm gonna respond. :ohwell:

I think some of you take things too seriously. you can have strong opinions and feel passionate about something without necessarily having an allegiance or ulterior motive.

I just skimmed quickly through the thread and didn't keep track of which members were on which side and was too lazy to go back to the posts to quote them. But I'm amazed that you've dived so deep into the matter since you don't particularly like her or have any personal ties to the situation. I love gossip and drama when it's people I know or am interested in but couldn't care less when it's a random celebrity I don't care about :ladyhaha:

I know you think you think you did something here, but if pointing out that I don’t want to continue an unproductive conversation with a belligerent stan is childish, then I guess I’ll just own it and chalk it up to reciprocating the energy that I've been dealt.

To some, It seemed like her major grevience was that he invalidated her self made success, which she's entitled feel to but it also speaks volumes about what matters to her

A spade is a spade in my eyes.
We can all see you diminishing the sexism of a man dismissing a woman's hard work and claiming her success is because of him embarrasing her and not her hardwork and dedication to her craft. We can all see you saying a generic reference to having sex with her, which is misogynistic no denying that, is comparable or worse to a man invalidating (at that point) a decade of hard work and claiming her success (which at that point was multiple stadium tours & numerous awards for her work) as his own. Especially when you're demanding that her public statements and public response to the song upon publication should have included & criticised a demo lyric which had been changed prior to publication rather than soley focus on the sexism that was kept in the release version.

If it's childish to make direct reference to the very thing you said and it's then gaslighting and baseless to point out what you said. If you dislike being called out on what you said. Then yeah, put me in the playground with the other kids.

Yet another bunch of gibberish? What did I say about not quoting me till you had the thinking cap back on? do I need a cease and desist or a restraining order?
