Thonin Dyn 2,653
well dwas took off primarly because of the video, everyone was recreating gaga's dance during the bridge of the song, so maybe when the disease mv will be released the song will grow? also, i think it's probably a "behind the scenes" issue. either the video needed some retouch for some reasons, or something happenned idk. What i find so strange is gaga's lack of excitement for the song. She didn't even aknowledged that it was LG7's first single, we know it is cause it was released during october, but she used to speak about LG7 for DWAS (WHILE YOU WAIT FOR LG7) & during Harlequin/Joker promo. Not even a few words for the fans, like it was "single's coming out on the 25th", and then on the 25th : "single's out". Maybe she don't even like the song that much but was forced to release it by Interscope as the lead cause it was the most radio friendly off the album ? idk there's a lot of possibilities Serve it, Ancient City style! 1
KennyRichie 1,761
I’m off from GagaDaily for a while. I wish there were more threads enjoying the music, the video when it comes, and yes, some for charts but not this level of negative obsession, it does not do any good for anyone. It is just day two and it is a Sunday, something will come up next days, just enjoy the process, go out or do something, go walk and listen to the song and her catalogue, there are also new good songs this days. Foolofatook 78
9 minutes ago, OMonster said: Chasing chart numbers is seriously a... disease; it will ruin and tarnish even the very best of songs (which this is). The truth is this: Gaga is unlikely to smash with her own solo pop music nowadays. And that is FINE. She's nearly 40. Her signature style of pop (Disease) is not the 'it' sound right now. Gen Z (or whatever) are unlikely to ever seriously get behind Gaga as a solo pop artist. And why would they? Most younger listeners didn't back Madonna once Gaga/Britney came around. It's the cycle of pop culture - it's normal. It's life. Gaga is more than a legacy artist though. She still has a very large fanbase and has a lot of pop cultural relevance. She can have that without solo monster hits. She could even have that without the collabs that, yes, have certainly charted better than any of her solo material in the past ten years or so. She'd have that without charting high in any capacity. But again... who cares? Especially when the music is so good. Lady Gaga will ALWAYS be famous. She will always be able to tour; will always able to release albums. She's an icon. And, honestly, the same can be said for Katy Perry. The criticism of Katy's music is because it's bad music (to a lot of us), not because it doesn't chart well. There is no double standard here (from me anyway). If Katy released a fantastic song and it didn't perform well on the charts... so what? Her fans are happy. And let's not forget DWAS is one of the biggest songs of the year. So who really cares how Disease charts? It's one of her best songs, ever. Let's celebrate and focus on that. A badly charting lead single (if that's what this ends up being, which it might not be) is not going to impact Gaga's career if she doesn't want it to. This. Millennial here, Madonna had a few hits when I was in college (Hung Up, 4 Minutes) and she was played in clubs and you heard it on the radio. In fairness, she did top the charts but she in no way dominated pop culture like the younger artists of the time. She popped back in to say Hi. Same for Gaga. Enjoy and stop measuring her up to the current pop girlies. She did what she did at the start of her career and no one has measured up since. Let's enjoy her new music while supporting the newer generation because they need their own Gaga! 5 6

They want a hit? Then they should STREAM. Did everybody on this site give their 20 streams a day today with 2-3 filler songs in between? I did and many more. Idk, I am way to overjoyed with the fact that she is back BACK to even be stressed about a potential flop. I am gonna listen to this song for the rest of my life, I love it that much, I am way too happy. Also, the streaming era is volatile, things can change drastically for the good or the bad, so all hope really is not lost. I dont think fans not streaming enough is the issue. It seems clear fans are listening non stop But were not Taylor Swift army. We are not large enough to make a hit on our own. Some of the casual fans and GP also need to buy in

If you don’t then idk Agreed. Also, maybe controversial, but I don't see the point at all in deliberately inflating streaming numbers (such as by playing long playlists with Disease squeezed between 100 different songs). What's the point? If a song is going to be a hit, it will be a hit because of average people playing it a few times because they want to. And even if such manipulation does lead to the song charting a bit higher, it won't last and you're therefore just setting it up for an almighty fall. There is NOTHING us fans can do to make the song a bigger hit than it's mean to be. It'll be a genuine hit if the GP at large like it. And if they don't... they don't. subtext / fantasy 1
ModernEcstasy 8,277
SMH. If only people put this amount of energy into actually playlisting/ streaming the song instead of arguing about it’s performance. 1

Why do some people always need to judge others' "music taste" ...like you don't even know what he/she is listening to Back to the topic, commercial performance always has its place and anyone who dismisses it is just pretentious, especially when the singers are the mainstream ones, like Gaga. Of course people, including herself, will care about how it does on charts because it can literally impact one's career. We see how Katy went through over these years and we know how much effort Gaga put to revive her career after ARTPOP. I'm just saying commercial performance has its place, whether it's important or not to you. Edited October 27 by Galagala
Delulu Rogers 6,925
People are confusing chart success with promo. I’ve seen hardly any posts complaining about the success of the song. What people are complaining about is the lack of engagement and noise from gaga herself. None of us want another era treated like chromatica and rightfully so. All she has to do is release the MV, give some performances and interviews and 99% of fans will on here will be happy even if the song doesn’t crack top 20. Gaga used to be all about the experience and that’s what ppl want alongside good music. Side note: I’m worried we’re not going to get a dark MV for the lead and it’ll be boring 1
asfittingasmcqueen 1,871
she’s gonna be okay. Remember that Gaga is extremely promo sensitive. Shallow and Million Reasons peaked thanks to live performances. Bloody Mary and Judas got viral because of tiktok trends. Even non singles like John Wayne and Joanne have more streams than other album tracks because of their music videos. As long as there’s content, the song will gain traction
agentprovocate 151
please don't come for me but since the last album chromatica it feels like gaga being forced to do pop music just to please her fans. I feel more passion in her jazz albums and making movies. disease is okayish but feels like leftovers from BTW to my surprise I enjoy aquamarine bei Addison more

The fans who are complaining aren't necessarily complaining about the song's performance but rather the complete lack of interaction from Gaga and her team since the song was released. I think the majority of us were expecting something more than just a few social media posts? It looks like they're not gonna change the gagadisease website or anything, like the rollout so far has been disappointing. We are not, it’s just that some of us are not concerned because we don’t feel like we need to yet. It’s a difference in opinion I guess. It’s her lead single, CLEARLY something must happen at some point unless something happened behind the scene ( which I doubt ). Her team is most likely trying a strategy here, they are not acting uninterested for nothing. People genuinly believe she put her lead out and stopped caring? Or that her team has no plan? It’s absurd.
Decodekid 26,674
I’m a lil done with these eJoY tHe mUsiC arguments. I don’t care that much myself about charts either but, it’s also OKAY for others to want their fav to be on top.
