Something I find so interesting is how Charli XCX didn't really have a "great" chart performance yet secured such huge impact and popularity :messga:

None of her songs from Brat have crossed 300M streams (even the daily streams of 360 are less than 1M a day) while Sabrina's Espresso is at 1.5B and PPP almost 1B.

What is the reason for that 17 week number 1 song (have no idea what's the title, Bar Song?) staying number 1 for so long?

Doubt it is sales or streams! Cause never saw that song rank 1 for US Spotify or something. Is it radio? or there are more things to effect Billboard chart besides radio sales and streams?

In the US, country basically dominates the charts now and it's a country song. It's why Morgan Wallen (ugh) also does well, and Post Malone combines country/rap. Radio counts for a lot, and there are still a ton of radio stations in the US and in the South it's basically country music radio playing in the stores all the time.

2015-2022 was more or less dominated by rap (specifically trap) in the US. Before 2015, pop dominated....and before pop you had a lot of pop rock, R & B, and rock dominating the charts.

Tik Tok is also a big part of it, and the Mormon Wives Tik Tok slash Mommy Blog Tik Tok crowd also uses country music a lot.

There are exceptions, though (e.g. Espresso), but yeah...that's the way it is. It's why Billie hasn't had a #1 off her latest album, even though she's a streaming monster....she's still however pretty high in the top ten with Wildflower due to TikTok.

Having over 110 million in monthly listeners is unheard of tho.

Yeah, I think people need to accept the charts are super unpredictable nowadays.

The Weekend is still a streaming monster, and yet his latest single (not the Sao Paulo one) debuted out of the top 20 several weeks ago. Halsey's new album is debuting with 80k-100k, and yet she didn't chart at all in terms of streaming.

so for example 15 sec TikTok videos counts towards the chart directly or you mean just makes the song popular.

Is there a formula to calculate points for Billboard? Radio impact must be like 2x of streaming (Apple + Spotify)

It's not the most mainstream song in the world but it freaking SLAPS. How did SL did better in its first days? Literally, how?

Lets hope radios surprise us and carry it

I hope they push for variants and physicals asap

I love Disease-one of my favorite Gaga songs-but it's not really a GP friendly song at all.

Which is ridiculous, because it's hardly FKA Twigs latest release, but yeah, unless it catches on with Tik Tok, I'm not shocked.

I do think if she had put physical copies in her store it would have debuted easily at the bottom of the top ten (like at 9), but I'm not shocked it didn't debut a la SL considering the type of song and the lack of physicals.

The Halloween mix should definitely help Gaga though.

Huh, apparently I was wrong.  I just googled

There is a Billboard Tik Tok chart, but it doesn't count towards the Hot 100. It perhaps used to count, though, because I recall there was a controversy with music journalists complaining about Tik Tok and some labels not putting music on tik tok.

I'm assuming there's a correlation though in that songs that are popular on tik tok might lead to people streaming them more, because some artists definitely try to get stuff to trend on tik tok.

Yeah, there's some formula. IDK know it, but a few people on here do and have talked about it before. Radio is massive as is sales...much more than streaming.

I’m really curious to see how that is gonna resonate with the awards season.

i'm so tired of the term ''solo hit'', normal people don't even use that term, I know it bc sometimes people irl talk about hits. Please leave twitter terminology out of this site, that term was created to trash Gaga after shallow, only toxic internet stans use it.

Gaga has had 10 hits after 2011.

22 hits overrall. She's HUGE.
