Railing 2,046
This is so cringe in retrospect Barbie isn't "about" body image or tearing women down. People like to call Barbie misogynistic, completely ignoring the point that she teaches children to be career-driven/aspirational, while also giving children an opportunity to simulate adult life through toys. These were always the core principles — even back in her very first generation, she was being presented as a hard-working graduate, fashion model, astronaut, singer, etc. This idea is even echoed in the upcoming film, with the presentation of a feminist utopia where the world is operated by women Obviously it's a good idea to tell people that beauty standards are bull, but this is a good example of people getting mad at the wrong things

Reject False Icons 4,403
So sad Gaga and so many more thought that Barbie was the problem of beauty standards. after being a collector and listening many colleagues, it’s so clear the society is misogynistic and blamed the doll for the adults stereotypes and own misconceptions when the kids only wanted to play That didn’t mean that Barbie was lacking diversity, but she didn’t deserve to be the scapegoat of society’s problems
