I'm known for having given the finger to many people I was unhappy to work with. Basically I never gave my life to work. But to my passions and interests instead. That's one of the main reasons I don't really feel any change with retirement. I just do the same stuff I was happy with all my life, only now, my small pension allows me to work half less for the same income... Perfect ! Enjoy your lives as much as possible. Don't give it to work, geez ! From Switzerland, I look at my french neighbors now and I tend to prefer this side of the border for sure this was touching Thank you so much for sharing this...you dont know how much I needed to read something like this. I have become a workoholic and I'm also a student and it has consumed my life these past two years. I have a full time job, a part time job and I am doing my masters all at the same time. I think I have to sacrifice for my future but sometimes you need to enjoy your life NOW because that future you are working so hard for is never promised. I know this is wild but your comment literally inspired me to send my part time job my formal resignation. There is no reason I should be killing myself with THAT much work. I already have a full time job and I am a student too. I dont need a side husstle. Yes financially I will take a hit but money is not everything. Thank you once again

Ideally I would love either 4 days a week of work and 3 day weekends OR at least instead of working 8 hours (usually the minimum) that we all work about 6 and a half hours with one hour long breaks for the same pay. I swear everyone's mental and physical health will be SO much better because you will still be working (which jobs are good because they give you purpose and force you to socialize etc) BUT you will also have so much more time to do everything you want! The way things are now is too tough
Arcanum 3,774
I am a teacher in primary education. I cannot imagine myself teaching efficiently when I'm at 65 or 67. Well done France! Show the way. In my corrupt country we never got asked. Never had a chance. One day to another and our income plummeted -450€ per month. No rich guy got taxed. Scandals still soar and whenever we see people standing their ground brings hope. Let's not forget that French Revolution was the mother of all. Thank you once again Your thanks are getting straight to my heart. I'm also very glad to know I inspired a decisive change you made and I hope it will impact your life quality as best as possible. I know everybody doesn't have the choices I had in my life, thanks to the various abilities and skills I was favored at birth plus a nice place to thrive. Anyway, like Gaga does in a way, I think we're all born superstars, or at least each and everyone of us has specific talents and skills. Then yes, it's the hardest part, steep choices and hard to take decisions are sometimes required to reach your most wanted goals, and preserve passion and dedication in the process. Again, I wish you success in your endeavour to fulfill a better quality of life, enjoying it more and working less. All work and no play... you know the rest . This is the way ! Late to the party but I got a diamond heart
