RAMROD 85,908
Women will soon be allowed to swim topless in Berlin's public pools, after a ruling by the city's authorities. It comes after a woman who was thrown out of an open-air pool for sunbathing topless took legal action. A second woman said she was told to cover up while at an indoor pool in December. Authorities agreed they had been victims of discrimination and said that all visitors to Berlin's pools were now entitled to go topless. The decision will be welcomed by those here who champion what's known as Freikörperkultur - free body culture. Foreign visitors to Germany are often surprised - and sometimes downright disconcerted - by the sight of naked Germans frolicking in its lakes, snoring in its parks, or sweating in its saunas. But this is a country which considers public nudity in some settings to be both appropriate and healthy. The issue of whether, and to what degree, that is permissible at municipal swimming pools has plagued many a local authority. Last summer, Göttingen in Lower Saxony and Siegen in North Rhine Westphalia allowed women to swim topless. Berlin's swimming pool operator, the Berliner Bäderbetriebe (BBB), has not actually changed its rules, which insist that a bathing costume covers the genitals. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64907422 (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ Kamehame-heehee! Economy 42,045
I mean it's not your genitals (the only truly irrefutable sexual part by biology). Everything else is only as sexual as we as a society decide it is... So if ppl are for it, great. More comfort for those women while enjoying a swim 9 1 1

Future Lovers 3,351
Good! Breasts are not inherently sexual and if a woman would like to have them out, then she should. Men are allowed to be topless, women should be given the same freedom. 2

Cauliflower 4,932
Breasts weren’t sexual 50 years ago (in my country). And if we look at Paul Gauguin’s paintings of Polynesian women in their day to day lives, they were topless all the time. More examples can be found in other cultures in before western influences.

Speaking of this, I find it so interesting how western society became both more open and more prude at the same time. Like, on one hand you have quite explicit sex scenes in movies and lots of nudity in advertisement but god forbid the slightest bit of a female nipple is visible. HermioneT 1,693
Great for all women who want to! I just hope it won't be compulsory or seen as necessary anywhere in near future because for example my bestie and me are not even comfortable with shorts or skimpy bikinis at beaches/swimming pools (for different personal reasons). Interestingly, my mother told me that when she was young in the 70s, it was quite normal and common to go topless at the swimming pool/lake etc. I wonder how and why German society changed in that regard (probably somewhere around the 90s).
