I dislike these comparisons, especially when artists don't have that much in common, but to discredit his talent like that is ridiculous.

He's right and he shouldn't be ashamed to say it. Harry hasn't reached the artistry Bowie did. Wearing your granny's dresses isn't art.

Tony Visconti, the producer of many of David Bowie's albums, has hit out at comparisons between Harry Styles and Bowie. The hitmaker, who collaborated with Bowie for much of his career, took umbr

Well it’s over
now we’ll have call him the Elton John of this generation

While I think the habit of calling current  artists the new whoever is pointless and annoying, I don’t think this warranted such a rude answer.

There's no new anything. Everyone has their own individuality. I hate these comparisons. New Michael Jackson this, new Prince that. What's the point of putting out something new if everything you do is being compared to older artists? Not saying that all comparisons are bad, there's nothing wrong with inspiration and sometimes it's an honor. It gets annoying to the point where the littlest thing is the new ___. Nothing similar at all. I said it. I'm sorry, I'm seeing red.

not sure who said that - also not sure why Tony is so angry lol

why not ‘God i hope he’s the next Bowie! We need more Bowies in the world.’ ?

Yea these old timers always think they’re better than newer/younger artists. It’s annoying. Huge egos they have

If you don't think it matters, then why would anyone make the comparison in the first place? Also, as a fan of David Bowie, I care lol. Calling Harry 'the next David Bowie' because he wears flamboyant clothing is insanely reductive. You'd have to know virtually nothing about Bowie to make the comparison.

Going for the ad hominem when there's nothing else. Very cute.

Why are you still defending him? Just admit that he was problematic and let it go.

Because you're the one who decided to raise the stakes in a conversation that was strictly about artistic output. But I guess you're assuming that you're taking the moral high ground here and I should have to defend the fact that I enjoy his work or something. Chronically online BS.

Comparisons will always be useless and can only cause harm.

Make it all make sense
