feat. Ed Sheeran -  is a world class piano ballad, a masterclass in transcendental joy and a future Pride anthem

I’ll be damned if an ed Sheeran feature becomes a pride anthem

The album is short but very solid and cohesive.

Spoiler

Quick Ranking (among the unheard songs)

 1. I'm Not Here To Make Friends (so much better than Unholy)

2. Lose You (a banger)

3. No God (pretty addicted to this song)

4. Who We Love (it really melts my heart)

5. Perfect (it's an ok song)

6. How To Cry (nice song)

7. Six Shots (I was expecting more from this one but still good)

Good job Sam

It’s quite a solid album. The standout track for me was (surprisingly) the title track ‘Gloria’. The presence of the choir, the vocal layering etc. makes it sound so special. ‘Lose You’ is the albums biggest bop - it sounds an early 2000’s b-side song that accompanied a smash hit when you bought the single as a CD :toofunny: & I LIVE for it. The chorus gives me soooo much life. ‘I’m Not Here To Make Friends’ is also catchy. I hope it becomes a hit for Sam. I think ‘Six Shots’ & ‘No God’ are both such a vibe. ‘How To Cry’ sounds like old Sam Smith which kinda got me in the feels.

The only songs I didn’t really warm to were ‘Who We Love’, ‘Perfect’ & ‘Love Me More’.

I’m impressed though.. it’s a really great album!

Listening to it right now... Gloriview coming soon

Edit: here go my highlights & comments

Spoiler

The "Hurting Interlude" is powerful and moving, so short and bland songs like the ones that go right before and after makes this a wasted opportunity for something bigger.

Overall, some songs reach a climax and then they're done. Whenever a song takes me somewhere, it moves on to the next song. Won't revisit any song other than "Unholy" and I'M NOT HERE TO MAKE FRIENDS!!

Album is out in Australia, so is Ava’s. I’m working now so can’t listen to them :fthis: So far reviews are ok for both although for Ava it still sounds like it’s a great pop album but quite derived from other signers and doesn’t seem to feel original.
