FfFfFfFF 53,221
He was citing fears of illegal immigrantion, but this this is bullshit as more illegal immigrants come into EU through Italy and Slovenia than Romania. Netherlands was ready to accept Croatia and Romania, but not Bulgaria. 1

Ivannn 906
I am for Bulgaria and Romania to join Schengen zone with Croatia on January 1st 2023 but It is simply not true that more people come from Slovenia to the rest of Schengen than from Bulgaria. Slovenia is for the next 20 days door to Schengen and then it will be Croatia, but all those people Had to come from somewhere. And the answer is in majority of cases is Bulgaria for now. Â Italy is whole another issue due to the Sea passage and is not comparable in this land border crossings. There Are different laws and rules for the Sea that also include Safet first Harbour and harbouring stranded people on the Sea that also apply here. (If the sources are legit in the first place). While lots of Austria’s reasoning may be rooted in xenophobia, there can be legitimate concerns about letting in too many immigrants at once. It’s simple, if not responsible geopolitics. If a country’s demographics change too quickly, it can lead to conflict.

The route of illegal immigrants passes through the Western Balkans, not Romania.
