You can’t ask the mods to shut down a topic because you don’t like its  subject points (or the political natures and perspectives involved)  Either don’t take part in the conversation(s) regarding the headline/report or just move on. 
 

None of us know the suspect personally and for us to just automatically decide who and what they are is kind of maybe even the root of the problem. This kind of erasure births nothing good. 
 

Closing the topic isn’t going to prevent the situation from being discussed.
