The cartoon never specified a location and as far as I know, there is not actual location where mermaids reside. This isn’t disrespectful cause Ariel wasn’t a real person. Do you think the the animated disney movie is disrespectful as well? because that one already changed way more about the original story. It’s wild! She literally wrote a song called “Born This Way” and has spread a message throughout her entire career about acceptance. Did y’all magically forget this HUGE detail? It's pretty worrying and disappointing to see the lack of support and acceptance. It is not hard for these haters to validate "changes" (to a fictional fantasy narrative). Every single story that is told and re-told is a type of adaptation. They just don't like seeing a black Ariel. It's very clear, and I find the haters very disgusting.
