Harry Styles on his sexuality

My take is that he’s struggling with something here. Likely because he became famous (and a heartthrob) SO young, and was kept on a short rein when he was in the band.

Its like “the lady doth protest too much” in every interview, and I think it’s because he wants it not to be a big deal, he wants it not to matter, because he’s still not comfortable with himself. But he can’t stop talking about it despite himself.

I don’t think he’s setting out to queerbait in a calculated way, I think he’s just kind of a mess (said lovingly lol) and I think and hope he’ll get wherever he’s going eventually, and I try to extend him grace in the meantime.

(that said I’m not a gay man, so I do get that I don’t feel others frustrations so acutely, I do see why this upsets people)

Why can't he answer like Bad Bunny and say "I'm straight but I know sexuality is fluid, who knows in 20 years"? Like that's a genuine answer... this is like he's running away from it for some reason.

Perhaps because he doesn't want to completely ignore this topic. I think he would be entitled to clarify his sexuality without explaining the detail if doing so would create lots of hurt and drama. You have to think: if (and it's a huge if but...) Louis and Harry were a thing once upon a time, perhaps Louis isn't comfortable talking publicly about it or his sexuality. Now if Harry came out, you know it would be used to create a huge public debate about 'Larry', which Louis might not want. Harry could be respecting a friend's wishes without completely silencing himself.

When I grew up there were 3 sexual labels. We now live in a much more open society, there are plenty of different way for one to identify and express how they feel. For Harry to skirt around the issue in the way he does feel distinctly unprogressive for this day and age.

I don’t buy that, you don’t need to state it in every interview you do.  That’s why I believe it is all for attention.  Let’s be real, “Larry” and this whole gay baiting thing is the only interesting thing about Harry.  He’s not exactly oozing personality.

Everyone has a right to still be figuring out their own sexuality. If you're still figuring it out and exploring it, you may not want to assign a label yet. I thought I was bi in high school but as I became more experienced I later in life identified as gay. He might be in the same sort of phase of his life where he doesn't know yet. Fame can be surprisingly sheltering and isolating too so it could be even harder for him to have a natural exploration of those things.

Because he doesn’t owe anyone a specific behaviour to satisfy strangers curiosity. You name one “possibility” that has zero proof so no, I don’t think people get the right to jump to anger. He doesn’t owe anyone anything about his personal life.

Okay I’m not sure what point you’re making regarding OF and fleshlights? Did I say something along those lines? And it’s interesting you say im participating in bi/pan erasure when you’re driving this point home tht he shouldn’t participate in labels, what’s the truth?
