They're co-leads. Joaquin salary is justified by the first film making so much out of a relatively small budget and payment to him. So now he demanded what he's due. I know everybody already answered something slightly different but I'll add this: it's not one of these basic commercial comics movies where they just slap a random basic director to do it and cast some hot actors to sell it. That was a project led by the director Todd Philipps, if he doesn't direct the second movie it's pointless, you can't call it a sequel. Please watch the first movie if it's not already done. Holding sets for long costs. That said yeah they'll have time for all the post production things. If the movie is a musical, it's interesting to think that Gaga probably already have some songs done (or almost done) for it.
