Ukraine, Moldova get EU candidate status officially

I'm completely on board with NATO membership, but EU membership?  Even without the war, Ukraine still has so many problems which would be carried into the EU.

North Macedonia is candidate for over 17 years, they joined nato they even changed their name  and still haven't even started negotiating. As if Poland doesn' thave one the strongest economies in Europe and isn't THE most useful member of the Euro-atlantic block in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war. Imagine any scenario in which Poland isn't part of EU or NATO, and in which Russia is freely able to project its influence into Central Eastern Europe and the Baltic Sea. The EU absolutely needs Poland and those at Bruxelles and Washington are in a much, much better positin with Poland it rather than outside. This is what happens when you don't gatekeep Europe.
