It doesn’t make sense.

Republicans are always introducing anti-trans/anti-LGBTQ bills but you never hear any Democrats proposing bills protecting the rights of those groups.

It is an issue worth fighting for.

Democrats in The House passed the Equality Act which amends the Civil Rights Act to protect trans Americans.

Biden signed an Executive Order reversing the ban on openly transgender service members serving in the Armed Forces.

The Department of State is announcing that beginning on April 11, 2022, all U.S. citizens will be able select an “X” as their gender marker on their U.S. passport application.

In April, HUD withdrew the previous administration’s proposed “Shelter Rule,” which would have allowed for federally funded discrimination against transgender people who seek shelter housing.

Biden signed an Executive Order recommitting the Federal Government to guarantee educational environments free from discrimination on the basis of gender identity.

The White House Office of National AIDS Policy released a revised National HIV/AIDS Strategy which now identifies transgender and gender diverse communities as a priority population in the federal government’s strategy to end the HIV epidemic.

The National Institutes of Health announced that it will increase funding for research on gender-affirming procedures to further develop the evidence base for improved standards of care.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced that it would interpret and enforce section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act’s prohibition on discrimination on the basis of sex in certain health programs to prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Biden signed an Executive Order on Improving Public Safety and Criminal Justice for Native Americans and Addressing the Crisis of Missing or Murdered Indigenous People with a focus on protecting trans and “Two-Spirit” Native Americans.

The White House and the Second Gentleman of the United States hosted a first of its kind vigil in the Diplomatic Room of the White House to honor the lives of transgender and gender diverse people killed in 2021.

Biden became the first U.S. President to issue a proclamation commemorating Transgender Day of Visibility.

In January 2022 the Bureau of Prisons revised its manual on serving transgender offenders, improving access to gender-affirming care and access to facility placements that align with an inmate’s gender identity.

Biden in the State of the Union,  “The onslaught of state laws targeting transgender Americans and their families is wrong. As I said last year, especially to our younger transgender Americans, I will always have your back as your President, so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential.”

Here is a map showing the protections for trans folks, led by Democrats, on a state level.

She's right, democrats are not winning new voters if they're focusing on trans issues. Their policies should adress violence (police included), unemployement and health care. These topics address minorities as well.

She's not saying these issues aren't important, but they shouldn't be the focus if they want to win an election.

I’m asking people think ABOVE the tribal talking points these politicians distract us with. It’s not that she doesn’t think these are true issues.

she’s saying it because the US is in a very dangerous time with serious future consequences that will fundamentally change everything!  The GOP is waging war on sensitive issues they KNOW will incite their supporters: trans, abortion, etc. they don’t care about these things personally, but they’re using these “issues” to provoke, to twist around facts and to corrupt. The GOP is intent on distorting everything. Hillary is saying that this is essentially unwinnable and that the GOP isn’t concerned about “winning.” It’s about total control, and if we cave in, it’ll be the same old stuff over and over during an election year, however the possibility of a hard-right authoritative control is likely. Please people, these are serious times. Look around you. Trump is a serious threat.

*I’ve never posted here before after 14 years of creeping. But this is important. Also, I no longer identify as either D or R. I lost hope and belief that this country has a true government. But it’s our reality.

Economy, price gouging(gas), baby formula again, alternative energy now more than ever before, affordable health care.

Edit: I consider these other issues a given, since democrats have long been the party supporting: ERA, gun control, lgbtq+, abortion rights/contraceptive availability, social security, worker unions

she’s not saying to not support or continue to support trans people. She’s saying dems need to win to be able to continue to protect trans ppl

That's the exact problem of the dems. Their entire brand is "vote for us, we don't suck as bad a republicans". It's always "Vote blue not matter what vote vote vote", but it's never about voted in officials making decisions for the betterment of the people.

The majority of the political democrat establishment are Manchin-ists, while the majority of democrat voters is significantly more left-leaning than AOC. The people in the US HAVE voted blue, it's a blue president and the senate has a blue majority, yet still somehow the Democrats have failed on almost all levels to protect the human rights of LGBTQ+ people, people of color AND women in general.  The ICE under Biden has deported more people right now people than they ever have under the Trump administration, de-facto wages are getting smaller & smaller, living costs skyrocket, influential Dems are literally advocating to deliberately let millions of Americans descend into poverty to stabilize inflation. The US housing bubble of 2022 is already bigger than the housing bubble of 2006 that caused the worldwide Great Recession.

The way the dems are run now just doesn't work. Nobody needs the Republicans-Light.

That’s the same logic that put her as the candidate when most people wanted someone progressive like Bernie, then she lost to trump. I do t think continuing to be moderate is going to help. The only reason Biden won was because enough people were fed up with trump. Now even a lot of people that voted for him (like me) aren’t happy with what he has done. The jokes on us, both Dems and Republicans want the same thing, they just take turns “looking bad”  so we just get caught up pointing fingers instead of voting them OUT
