Variety is the “industry bible”. For decades it has been regarded as the most trusted and respected trade paper in the entertainment industry. It is a “trade paper” intended for people in the business, not a tabloid.  They take their reporting and columns very seriously. Companies often do purchase “for your consideration” ads in it, which is standard for the industry, but they would not take money to write an opinion column. Stay pressed.

did a monster write this?...because ASIB was definitely not best picture that year lmao Gaga was great and so was Bradley, but it was a thoroughly solid movie and Roma deserved its win imo
