Is It A Red Flag When Someone Only Have White Artists In Their Faves List?

it's a red flag if somebody actively avoids POC artists for racist reasons.... if it just happens that their favorite artists are white, I don't see it as problematic. "White" music has a different sound even when it's socially progressive.

I think that depends on the reason u mainly listen to artists of 1 race

 

Different genres do tend to be over represented by different races and if u have a preference for certain genres its very likely to be disproportionate 1 race including white

 

However there should be expetions to it especially if ur list of favs are long. If theres not even 1 exeption maybe u ought to ask urself why

Most people don't even have a faves list so no ig. BUT, if the person specifically says "I only listen to (race) singers/artists only." then it's a yes. Staying by one genre and avoiding one, I think, is not.

It'd be a red flag if their Top artists/bands were Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, BTS and Katy Perry. I'd run from that relationship.

It depends. If we talk about artists I stan, I have only one Asian band (Japanese, to be precise). But if we talk about artists we generally listen to, then easily half of the artists I listen to are not white

Tbh just ask them what their favorite Rihanna song is. Everyone on the planet likes at least ONE Rihanna song. If they don’t like any there is something sketch and this is a hill I’m willing to die on.

of the 300+ artists/bands i listen to, only 22 are POC/contain a POC member

most artists are white, so ... it's kind of hard to not have only white artists in your fave lists. personally i have mariah carey and beyoncé so i'm all sorted.
