By this logic though every album ever is cohesive. An album should be a complete body of work, with a common sound or concept or story or feeling tying it together. Joanne is literally just a compilation of random songs, with little to no connection or flow from one song to the next.

Lmao Joanne is a complete body of work, with a common sound, concept and story and particular set of feeling tying it everything together

First, the common sound, all the album have a prevalent acoustic sound, with live instrumentation, and a retro sensibility etc, the production in Joanne is very recognizable, plus the soft rock and country country that's sprinkled among most songs in the album, despite not being neither a rock or country album, it always has that stuck un the middle sound that's very particular.

It narrates the story of Joanne, as as she passes through the difficulties of life, it has a very defined identity conception as it is the first gaga album that doesn't reference in any way Fame or celebrity culture, it takes place in all the experiences a regular working class women on the streets could face in a daily basis.

And then there's a particular feeling this album has, it creates that retro feeling like you're listening something in an old toyota on a texas street in the radio.

Joanne is not a compilation of random songs lol you're overlooking so many elements and saying that out of your ass haha, it all flows perfectly together, is a roller coaster of feeling, moods and emotions well tied together that happen in one specific universe, you know when is a Joanne song, just like other gaga albums have a clear identity.

A dance-funk song about getting high and watching yourself have s*x being immediately followed by an acoustic guitar ballad about her aunt who passed away. Please tell me, what story is that telling lol? Where is the flow?

haven't you someday being depressed, grieving, and crying and then just start to have horny thoughts, maybe getting high or smoking, wanting someone to have sex with, and masturbate?? because i do, and a lot, it's the story of life, the story of joanne, it flows as it should, that's pain and sexuality, a change in mood but it's the same story.
whatever, is either you get it or you don't, no point in explaining art, but you just have to experience it, and Joanne is definitely a experience if you get its sensibility.
