And then the only ones with them will be criminals which will end up being worse. Yes, it would be like in Europe, where I hardly step out of my flat anymore tbh. It's so f*cking dangerous, I honestly don't know how we all do live just ONE day longer. I have to run from armed criminals on a daily basis, not just me, my parents and grandma too. There aren't many options for people who are mentally handicapped. That's what the issue is. THANK YOU!!! Instead of taking away guns, which many use for protection, why dont we just put these mental idiots on check and lock them up if they show any signs of being a psycho.. How is freedom of speech about to kill a school of kids? As for "after one incident" the emphasis on AFTER so it's not unwarranted. Freedom to shoot people is pathetic and anyone who defends their right to be able to murder in cold blood deserves to be treated as mentally ill as they clearly do not posses the intelligence required to be part of society. In the UK you can have a gun if you have a license after a risk assessment and psychological test. They only get one if they have an adequate reason. "Defending my home from idiotic gun huggers like me" is all your argument amounts to. It is silly.it's so silly it could have come from the mouth of a reality tv idiot. Seriously. It is the right of some men in certain places to be allowed to rape women. Is that something that should never be reconsidered? The constitution means jack. It's old and hasn't been updated to address societal changes. The U.S. Constitution gives Americans the right to own firearms. If that right is taken away after one incident then what is next...if one right can be taken away, so can freedom of speech etc. Taking away the right to bear arms would cause civil unrest at the least and possibly another civil war. Millions of Americans who own guns aren't just going to go away quietly they are going to rise up... these types of events are tragic but to be fair they don't happen all the time. More people die by falling out of bed every year than school shooting victims ever. The government doesn't regulate bed heights.. different I know but its an example. There is no reason anyone needs to own assault weapons but more people die in America from normal firearms than assault weapons anyway. Its just shocking and overly a--lyzed after these types of disasters happen. No matter what, if a crazy person wants to kill people, they will find a way.The war on d--gs has been a disaster, imagine the war on guns... just more political bull**** to deal with with a phony crying president who is good at talking but not much else. Its pathetic whether the tears are fake or not, he needs to control his emotions if they were real and if fake hes pathetic. That is a reasonable and sensible idea. But really doesn't matter, its not like these people would write 'im a crazy asshole im getting this gun to murder some kids later'. Most of the people that do these things live normal lives with no other instances until it happens. The government has taken away your right to ignore traffic lights for a reason (a very good reason). At one point, women were the property of men, but thanks to the women's rights movements, they no longer are. Was it immoral to take away the "rights" of men to treat women and children like property? I (and hopefully most other people) would think not. Is it not a good idea to examine whether some rights need to be given or taken away, especially with our changing social values? For example, the right to bear arms was given to Americans during very dangerous times. The police was almost nonexistent then, and there was barely any justice system to keep crime in check. Today we have an incredibly vast and technologically advanced justice system, which is why I think that the need to use guns for self-defense is much reduced from what it was several centuries ago. Do we still need to make sure that African-Americans only have 3/5ths of a vote? Should we have never changed the law so that women could vote? Do we still need to make sure that we're safe from the apparently evil government we elected through legalizing firearms to the general public with no sensible restrictions? The only option for many people who are mentally handicapped is prison. But these people aren't criminals. They don't belong in jail. If we would actually take the time to address their unique mental and emotional differences many mentally handicapped kids would grow up to become valuable American citizens rather than a violent sociopath. People try to ignore or exclude those with mental disabilities. They don't belong in prison, they've done nothing wrong. They were born this way. Banning guns is not going to stop psychos from committing murder. They will simply find another way to do it. The media is one of the most dangerous weapons because now other people looking to exit the world with attention will know exactly how to do so. Read the fake Morgan Freeman statement -- whoever wrote it was spot on.
