Finally watched the movie, it really is good and the song is positioned very nicely.
There is however a clear difference with Shallow, that was the core and centrepiece of the movie.
HMH is still just an end credits song. Dont get me wrong, its an end credit song to a huge movie that will end up among the highest grossing this year and will be iconic, so I think it is a big achievement to have a song in there.

All things considered I guess this will end up more of a legacy achievement, where its more about acclaim than charts, kinda like LFS. Which I think is a shame because the song obviously had potential to become a big hit (not shallow level but still).

All things considered it is still a huge and iconic success

if this closes at midnight UK, then this accounts for friday night shows in the US but not saturday day right? hoping the numbers improve after a few full days of showings but oof. we all know she wants another oscar nom at least so hopefully if these numbers continue they’ll do something

one minute y’all are complaining about no promo and the next you’re saying the only type of promo i can imagine possible right now is pointless? snl is over. i’m pretty sure a late show that millions watch every night would get more eyes than a few playlists. all of her kimmel videos have hella views

Personally, I don’t know what any promo would change. Maybe with TTH playlisting the song would end in the bottom half of Spotify. (Both HMH and Shallow might be charted if there were no album bombings.)

It should also keep in mind that the majority of the moviegoers are over the age of 35 who don't subscribe to streaming. It might still be a favorite in the radio, it is currently growing every day.

In fact, it was already clear when the song was released that most of the fanbase wasn’t interested in the project, so it didn’t get the initial push.

I still hope 1/2 cute Oscars/Grammys for HMH/score and I think the song will have a longevity/legacy due to the movie streaming and TV release.
