It has been confirmed that Ridley Scott’s #HouseOfGucci starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver still has not been completed and is thus not ready for the Venice Film Festival.

Sad news, but hopefully this means they are really taking their time to edit/colour/score it to perfection!

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Trailers are usually done way before they're done editing and even filming the whole movie, unless there's some other thing that's holding it back

We don't know. The Batman released a trailer when it was still shooting.

This feels like a bad sign. It’s not a special effects film or anything that requires a lot of post production. Either Ridley is taking his sweet time w/ the editing/scoring/etc. or there’s issues w/ it so they’re doing reshoots or changes.

Why would dramatic movies without special effects take less time in editing? There's literally an Oscar category dedicated to Editing, it's a craft in its own right that requires discipline and good judgment.

Nah, if anything the original schedule was a very quick turnaround...especially because COVID restrictions have to impact some of post production. Ridley's also much, much older than he used to be and had to finish the Last Duel first.

Edited: Not being finished can absolutely be an issue, for sure, at times but in this case I'd give the situation the benefit of the doubt because production only wrapped about two months ago.

It takes a months-long process for sure. Just seems like this type of movie would usually be “in the can” by September after wrapping in May. Movies with a tons of special effects are the ones that take a year+. Wayy more people working on them.

The thing is Ridley was working on the Last Duel, which wrapped about a month before House of Gucci, too, and he's allegedly very involved with overseeing post production, too.

Venice will consider mostly finished films via submission if they are ready in time by the festival starts, on occasion, but I'm not shocked that Ridley wasn't able to "mostly" finish the film in 2 months to submit it considering his age, the Last Duel, and COVID.

The problem is this very well could create some negative buzz if it's held...even though it's not uncommon for films to be held for a while.
