I would take this list as a pinch of salt...if anything being a frontrunner at this time is bad as they usually don't end up getting nominated let alone win. Also let's take into consideration there's A LOT of films being released this year due to a lot of films from last year being pushed back so competition is going to be even more STACKED than usual.

you can serve it to me ancient city style...

It almost feels like the media hyping up BTW after TF and TFM, only to call it underwhelming later. :triggered:

Bookmark me: Martha Plimpton will not only be nominated but also win for 'Mass'

Idk if she’s enough of an Academy darling to win. The Oscars are also a social game after all.

Shouldn't the trailer be out already?

I think it could be coming soon. The first ASIB trailer came out on June 6 for an October 5 release date. So if this movie keeps a similar window between trailer and release we could see it within the next couple of weeks.

Off course I am biased towards LG but Kirsten really looks eerily similar to lady Di!

Anyway looking forward to watching all the movies!

There is no way Jennifer Hudson is not winning for Respect. I will be more than happy if Gaga secures another Best Actress nomination though.

That's nice but one should wait to see the performance first. LG is not Meryl Streep who we can all predict to get in on name and role alone.

The industry rewards new styles of acting and new faces. Some actresses who have been in the business for decades have lost to first-time performances. Cher won for her first performance for example. Emma Stone won over Meryl Streep. And Gaga was nominated when Nicole Kidman was left out. I think the Academy is pretty fair in the sense that they won't reward you just because you're a seasoned actor. They really look at the specific work you're nominated for and then cast their vote based on that. Of course I'm not saying starpower doesn't play a political influence, but even that, Gaga is very much beloved by the Academy.

So back in 2012 when the ridiculous "scandal" of Kristen Stewart cheating on rpattz was breaking on social media and everyone was ripping into Kristen, calling her all sorts of names guess who was one of the only people to defend her? GAGA. I was a pretty casual fan at that time and it was one of those times where I realised what a decent person she was bc she didn't jump on the bandwagon. She was concerned for both Kristen and Rob and the way the media was acting. So that's why I don't get mad at the kindness stuff bc I know she actually means it.

Love this! I don’t remember what she said or did? Can you elaborate a bit? I remember the scandal just not Gaga being involved. Glad she spoke up tho, this is why we stan:pawsup:

And she didn’t even deserve her last two: Saoirse should have got it for Lady Bird and Carey for Promising Young Woman. I’m still mad about it lol

I agree about Carey, but Frances absolutely deserved it for Three Billboards imo.

I do think that Hudson will be a tough competition to beat but we've had so many musician biopics lately, both centering on male and female singers. First we had Queen's, then Elton John's, then Renee won for Judy's, then Andra Day got nominated for an Oscar and won a Golden Globe for Billie Holiday's.

I feel like the formula is kinda expected by now that there will be a film about a music legend every year and the Academy has definitely recognised that trend. House of Gucci on the other hand is a refreshing genre that hasn't been utilised for some years, and if Gaga and Ridley do their job well, Gaga could be revered in the veins Charlize Theron was for Monster.

Joker also recently renewed an interest in anti-heroes. Sometimes we just want to look into the minds of villains and not the typical hero/legend we've seen so much of.

I also think the toying with the narrative (the breaking of the fourth wall) suggests that Gucci will be pretty ambitious and will take a unique perspective on how they lead the audience to empathise (not sympathise) with Patricia.

She tweeted that the way the media was behaving towards her was brutal and that she hoped Rob and Kristen were OK. And trust me, just that tweet alone was huge bc social media went nuts at this story bc Twilight was at its peak popularity and they were very much tabloid fixtures. I remember some industry type ppl making snidey comments and I still side eye them.

Its funny because twitter pile ons are pretty much a daily occurance now but back then I feel like twitter was a lot calmer and more fun, so seeing all that go down was gross.

I feel like that scandal would have gone down way differently post Me Too. Not that it seemed like a black and white situation, but it definitely came across as one of those morally gray areas where an older man in power took advantage of someone much younger even if they were legal.

She was like 19-20 and was clearly going through something at the time—I think she even heavily implied that she was struggling with some mental health issues and I imagine that stress of being in the closet for being bi must have added to the pressure— he was twice her age and her boss. She did mess up, but he was far more in the wrong imo and it was insane how the media put it all on her and he got off. I swear there was even some article in one of the big mags about it that described her as the type to "watch your man around" and the slut shaming was insane.

Anyway, it's good to see her career recovered because I remember when people thought it was basically over due to that mess.

Oh it would be SOOOOO different post Me Too. Ppl freaked out so much bc it was Kristen and they wanted an excuse to hate on her, plus they were the franchise couple and had shippers etc.

The thing is, Kristen said there was no big affair. She said she never slept with him. People literally lost their minds over a snog. Its do embarrassing looking back on it now. And yeah, the paparazzi and tabloids were ALLL over them as a couple. They couldn't really have a normal relationship and clearly she appears to favour relationships with women. She apologised to Rob and they are still friends. Rob even said ppl that age cheat. He was over it a lot faster than his crazy stans. And I personally don't think Rob was exactly pristine in that relationship either, he doesn't a lot of time at the chateaylu marmont which wasn't kstew's scene at all.

I feel like Cate Blanchett might be a contender for GDT's Nightmare Alley and Ana de Armas for Blonde. Although I suspect there may be some controversy about the former...it has a huge ensemble cast with a ton of A listers...and I believe every single one of them is white. It's literally whiter than a Wes Anderson or Woody Allen movie.

Isn't Cate supporting Bradley?

What I mean to say is that she'll be put under Supporting Actress, no?
