I dont understand. Is there something wrong with sugarfree cookies?

I think they usually replace the sugar with something that's worse.

She is simply unbearable.
Now watch her get criticized for it, play the victim and leave social media for a few weeks :awkney:

I understand it’s triggering for her but some people need sugar free options. Sugar is addicting and also triggering for people, including me (who used to be obese). I just hope people can understand both sides to the story. It’s not all about “terrible diet culture”, it’s about understanding your body and knowing when your weight is making your weight worse. I don’t think Demi has actually been obese so it’s a different situation. Theres never been anything wrong with her health regarding her weight. I just hope in the end people can understand the topic from both sides and refrain from making biased statements like the one Demi did, not that I’m actually mad at her.

Thank you for this post. As you said, there is two sides to this. There needs to be a balance between the options that this store had. Some people do need sugar free options and some don't. I think in this case she stated how there were "tons" of them. I think it was about how the balance was missing. Of course please note that my comment was targeted at people attacking her for the statement, but thanks for making your comment known.

"Do better" :ladyhaha:

I'm so sorry that she had to walk past some diet/healthy alternative foods, Let's all pray she's okay after this horrible experience.

It’s just an instagram story, jfc you guys make a big deal out of everything. Countless people do this type of **** on their Instagram stories, Facebook posts, tweets, etc. Why do you feel the need to express your contempt for such a common, frivolous thing?

Nope. She's followed by millions and she's attacking a business over something completely stupid. People are so oversensitive and walk around with a victim complex all day just looking for something to stand on their high horse about. They love the audience and the virtue signalling. We all have our problems and sensitive points but you can't expect the whole world to adapt to mollycoddle you from it all. I feel like an old granny telling the kids to stop being such spoilt oversensitive babies but it's true. I've never wanted to leave social media more than in the last year. It's been getting increasingly toxic and mind numbing but the THIS IS SO OFFENSIVE TO ME mentality is making it intolerable.

It's not sarcastic or anything. This is a dig at diet culture. Demi knows almost more than anyone about diet culture as in her new album she details in one of the songs melon cake about not even being able to eat birthday cake on her birthday which TW spiked eating disorders. Diet culture inflicts people into the idea that certain foods are just wrong, especially to woman. Cookies are one of these foods. Y'all need to grow up if you have a problem with this. Calling this situation "very Demi Lovato". Clearly you all aren't famous because none of you understand what she has had to go though and many other artists do.

So all cookies should include sugar so people with eating disorders should not feel excluded when seeing them. What is this nonsense? She is saying ''Do better please'' to a small bussines because she is personally affected by sugar-free cookies? I understand that trauma can affect us in so many ways, but this is just weird. You yourself may need to grow up if you are this affected by people being weirded by a woman ranting about the commercialisation of sugar-free cookies.

Chic

I don’t really understand her intentions, it could be a joke or it could be a legitimate complaint? I’m gonna reserve judgment until I know better

HuffsAhoy

This is why I refuse to support her. All she ever does is whine and cry about everything.

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Ok hon do your research, i made a follow up comment talking about obesity and diabetes. All together my comments are saying that there should be a balance. Demi stated that in her experience there were "tons" of these as she made her journey to the check out. Of course sugar free cookies are important for people who are struggling with obesity and diabetes same as it is important to have regular cookies for people who are affected by eating disorders. I never quoted you or anything, so to see my comment you would of had to go back into the thread and look through the comments, where i made other comments. Do your research previous. And of course we need both options but to read my comment and take it out of context as to read it as a declaration that "all cookies should include sugar so people with eating disorders can feel better" is a sign that YOU need to grow up. I never stated that at all in that comment of my other ones.

When i made that post, it was directed to the people who were commenting about how ridiculous it was, not to this random business who maybe needs to think a bit more about their product placing.

I am sorry if you misread it. Other people read it and it made sense to them, so this may be a YOU problem.

Hope this makes more sense

I think a lot of people on this site like to just talk **** about Demi and Katy Perry in particular. As soon as something pops up that gives them a chance, they'll rush to do so. Although I don't think OP is one of those people.

I don't think I have to "research" all your comments before I quote one. You should be able to explain and start a conversation around a single one of your comments, and if your comment isn't enough to explain your view maybe it's a problem in the way you wrote it.

You never stated that all cookies should include sugar but you justify Demi's view that shops should "do better" and only show sugar cookies (because of the possibility of her visiting them??).

It is ridiculous to go in a random cookie shop and then complain about it only displaying sugar-free cookies. Like I'm sorry but.. sugar isn't healthy and people with diabetes can only eat cookies made with other sweeteners (some abstain from eating sugar for whatever reason), it's a sensibile decision to not put them on display for this very reason. Even considering the risk of offending Demi Lovato.

And nope, it's not a me problem.

Look, point is my comment quoting your comment was noticing some holes in your post. You also noticed some holes in mine. One of your points, that i should have put my points in one whole comment. I agree that putting them in multiple wasn't the best choice but i put them that was as other people had concerns and thoughts on it that i responded to.

I don't want to drag this out into a longer argument but it's not just at the expense of Demi but at the expense of a large number of people affected but both eating disorders and society telling them what a body should look like. Of course that is not the only reason for the sugar free cookies but also because it's unhealthy.

You have stated that you understand trauma's effect on people. I only thought your post wasn't including a lot of sensitivity towards Demi. Demi isn't here to defend herself unlike you and me are both active to.

I hope this comment can be seen not as an attack towards you but as defence for Demi.
