Critical condition is pretty broad. Hopefully we get updates soon. I believe recently they said he is expected to recover.

Ok... I was hoping they would say he's in a stable condition.... critical to me always sounds life threatening. :(

I will pray for him and for Gaga & her dogs tonight.

I will say this hoping I don't come across as obnoxious and can choose my words correctly, but without capitalism, this wouldn't have happened. It's sad when we commodify every aspect of life and put a monetary value to it. If autonomous lives, like the lives of French bulldogs, wasn't commodified, those despicable people wouldn't have a reason to commit such atrocious act, and dogs wouldn't have a reason to be stolen to be sold afterwards. These small things should also serve as a wake up call. Organize and spread the word. That's the only way to truly prevent things like this from happening again and again, and being covered as if it were a consequence of a random sick person wanting money, instead of also being a direct consequence of the way we see value itself.

People have been stealing and murdering each other since the dawn of time, long before capitalism was even a thing... At the end of the day, we'll always have reasons to envy our neighbor. It's the fault of people being terrible.

Murder is one thing and stealing dogs to sell them is another :poot:

Ryan must have be amazingly strong to survive 4 shots to the chest. I really expected the worst as I scrolled down the article after seeing that part, assuming it was going to announce that he was unlikely to recover. I really don't know how someone survives bullets to a critical part of the body at point blank range but perhaps we shouldn't question miracles. Amazing that he also protected Asia until the paramedics got there. I was initially surprised at the relatively low reward Gaga was proposing but then realised that she probably doesn't want to offer too much money to such remorseless criminals. She could easily go higher if they demand it but she probably only wants to offer the bare minimum expected of a multi millionaire and hopes that they'll get caught before or after they claim it. Stories like this must put real fear into celebrity dogwalkers who will now wonder if they'll be targeted too. And any dogwalker with a pedigree breed in an affluent area as well.

Well today someone was nearly murdered for that very reason.

I'd say that specifically America's brand of capitalism is at fault. The pseudo-religious worship of the free market creates situations like this. Where certain dog breeds' prices are so artificially inflated, that killing owners and abducting dogs to sell them on the black market is easier and more lucrative than being a functioning member of society. Because in America, money is king. Regardless of how you get it.

It's obvious I care about the situation and feel very bad for the walker and the dogs, that's why I make this reflection. Not everything should be taken at face value, and the fact a person almost died because of the value we put on a dog is really sad.
