Ariana says 34+35 was going to be the lead single but she chose positions

Tbh it makes sense because the hype was real and when Positions first came out it was a little underwhelming. While 3435 isn't her best song, the lyrics would have caused buzz/been a talking point and been a more exciting roll out as a lead single.

Although then people might have expected songs that are lyrically similar on the album and be disappointed, so she was right that Positions was more indicative of what to come.

I really like a lot of Ari's music but I just can't vibe with the song. "f*** me til the daylight" is still jarring everytime I hear it and I just don't get it. And the fact we know little girls are going around, twerking and singing this

Positions was a good song, but I feel like 34+35 would have been a more shocking choice. Both still don't compare to what she gave us with TYN tho.

it’s a better introduction to the album
