Rodriguez is a die hard fan of old campy flicks, that's why they look like that, but he's a very experienced and talented director. I agree his style is over the top and may throw off some viewers tho. 

The visuals aren't the problem tho, it's the storytelling.

Machete Kills isn't exactly what we would call a well written movie.

I agree, Machete Kills is not a good movie. From Dusk Till Dawn, Planet Terror and even the first Machete are far superior. Sin City (the first one) was good, but I haven't seen the second where Gaga appears

I love how he says that he has fun working with people with that type of energy and then you bring that energy back to your projects.
