You can’t compare her solo album to the soundtrack. She had less control over the latter. WB clearly didn’t care about hits. They wanted the movie to do good and win awards, that’s why they wanted Interscope to only push Shallow.

Soundtrack was controlled by Interscope, not WB.

I know, but I don’t think Interscope had full control over what to promote and what not to. WB clearly wanted Shallow to be in the spotlight. They didn’t care about milking the hits because it can seem desperate and a bit tacky to oversaturate the material.

how is it desperate or tacky to release singles from a highly successful album lmao

Well that’s just my opinion. Over commercialisation does sound tacky to me. Especially for a critically acclaimed movie like ASIB. If it was just an averagely rated blockbuster then I’d be all for milking multiple singles.

I can understand this and I even agree to some extent but make the song an official single WW and push it in some playlists after the Oscars, it wouldn't hurt Shallow really. She wouldn’t even had to perform, promote or anything.

Yes I agree with that. They could’ve definitely invested in better playlisting.
