Why is the media lying about Britney's estate/finances?

In recent reports about Britney's conservatorship, the media has widely reported that "Jamie Spears argued that he has done his job well and turned his daughter’s estate — once debt ridden and facing millions of dollars in lawsuits — into one worth more than $60 million."

But in 2008, the same media reported that at the time her father was in the process of taking over her affairs, "that Britney's estate is worth $40 million, encompasses 15 separate entities and is in the middle of a $17 million audit."

Can someone explain this vast discrepancy???

Is this just more media corrupting the public's perception of Britney???

Thoughts???

In the first article, it was her father's claim and in the one from 2008 it was probably an estimate.

I don't see any lies here, just different sources claiming different things. I really doubt there would be a big media conspiracy to "corrupt the public's perception" of someone's finances in 2008

It’s not that deep. There’s less interest in Britney today so there’s less pressure to scrutinize every single detail about her estate’s finances. They’re not gonna go back to an article from 2008 if they have sources today saying her estate is worth $60 million and was once in debt.

Hard to believe there was a time when the media was so obsessed with her they'd actually analyze the size of her boobs over time to determine whether she'd had a boob job or not :bear:

That statement is a joke.  The pathetic media is scrutinizing all her instagram posts just because she doesn't want to participate in the entertainment industry and their laughable hypocrisy...

That's not one article from 2008.  All media reporting on Britney's estate at the time reported that Britney was $40 million dollars, while they're all now reporting that she was in debt.
