The Fame 3,866
I would not describe the song as ahead of its time, tbh. It was pretty par for the course for what was on the radio at the time.  Also, does she have a Joanne tattoo on her wrist in that thumbnail?

Thomas P 18,377
People liked chained to the rhythm’s sound, it was the message of the song that received mixed reviews, and imo fairly. It’s a bop with a confused message and that was the general consensus back at the time of its release.  EDIT: tbh I credit this modern day dominance of 70s-90s influenced songs to Emotions. It might not have been a commercial success but I truly believe the recognition it’s received in retrospect has left a wide open door for artists to go down that route. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill. stevana229 1,780
I think this is one of Katy's best songs. The double chorus is great
DelusionalGaga 29,205
It's a great song but Katy didn't start anything. I mean Taylor and Carly were doing 80s pop and disco inspired music in like 2014

Anderson123 31,131
I think Daft Punk started the disco trend in 2013 when EDM was at it’s biggest moment.

Its funk (hence uptown funk). There's quite a big disco influence with CTTR End Racism Now
