There's a trade paper article that I gotta dig for, but it talked more about  Troy and co. actions. Basically Troy was moving more into the tech game (I believe he's an exec with Spotify now) but you don't abandon an entity like Gaga just because of an injury. So, imagine someone having a client in such a state of mental and physical distress, that they thought they were on their last legs, like this could be it, another Britney "situation". Do you stay a loyal friend and confidante, helping your client on the long road to getting them back on their feet? Or do you carefully map out your abandonment: squeeze every last dime out of your relationship, regardless of mental/physical stress it puts on them, drag your feet on your responsibilities and sabotage their rep, so when you jump ship no one would blame you for doing so?

Like I said, the pop culture rags focused on painting her as an erratic diva about to self-destruct because those headlines sell. Managers being disruptive, greedy and unprofessional is just run-of-the-mill.

wow that is so sad, now i understand what she said that fhe guy Tony literally convinced her to not abandon her music career, she probably contemplated that. She came trought a lot

In 2013 there was intense media criticism of Gaga. Remember the story that got picked up by the global press about Gaga costing her label $20 million in losses? I wouldn’t be surprised if that rumour - easily verified to be unsubstantiated but unverified by the entire global media - came directly from Interscope. They knew Gaga was depressed and on the verge of either quitting music or changing labels. So they wanted to make ensure Gaga took a major paycut just in case - by making sure any potential new contract with a competitor would be worthless. Her own label devalued her, just in case she decided to sell her stake in the current contract.

Those rumors came from "Angela Cheng". It's very well documented. Gaga had a group of trolls (who all ended up being the same person) spreading awful rumors about her during the BTWB and ARTPOP, and most of the stories ended up catching major attention because they were impersonating reputable members of the media. It was a very big deal at the time.

Interscope actually defended her at the time:

An enthusiastic rep from Interscope denied there was any panic over “ARTPOP” saying, “That story is untrue and ridiculous. Gaga has creative control, and we are thrilled with her album.” Carter declined to comment.

The Interscope rep snipped to us about the sales: “It’s the No. 1 album, and everyone would love a No. 1 album. What’s not to be happy about?”

It's been heavily speculated that it was Perez Hilton, but there's no proof. He was very close to Angela on Twitter, though. Naturally, he denies this.

It was def him! It have his fingerprints all over! How nasty and scary the music industry is honestly!!! like when we were kids we all wanted to become beautiful popstars but there is some horrible darkness, creppiness around that we tend to ignore. Clearly in very very few cases is actually ABOUT the music itself, i cant even believe Gaga had ot fight for SONG TITLES with her label, i mean, what do they even know about it?

@Dulo Peep Im still looking for that article but I re-found this one. It was always very telling. Methodical is a word that comes to mind. Like there was an instinct to break up with her before she broke up with him this time. And why would you keep hocking tech ventures to someone who just wants to make effing music?

The split was rumored to have been brewing for months, and ended with that least illuminating of phrases–creative differences. Carter isn’t one to look back. He says he’s never “hoarded memories.” While he traveled the world with Gaga, he rarely took a photograph. This is the very thing that made him a great manager: his ability to stay present, to make rational decisions just as things are going off the rails. To handle moments like this.

Wow, I remember this happening and it being a big deal, obviously feeling sad for her and all, but seeing this 7 years later as a grown person I feel even worse for her. My teenage self could've never related or understood half of what I do now.

I'm so glad she kept making music, let alone release a short film so soon after that. Not everyone can be that strong and it sucks that she had to go through it all in the public eye in the middle of an era.

ugh reading that message just broke my heart.

“She walked in with these huge sunglasses on, fishnet stockings, and basically told me how she was going to change the game,”

Triconic! So he is bff with Madonnas manager? Also, he seems very into tech since the very beggining. Maybe thats why Gagas early career was very technology oriented? Super interested read. It def seems like a guy that is veryyy into making money! Investing, investing, investing, investing

He hustles that's for sure. A real hummingbird. Fingers in several pies and doesn't stay long in any of them. I can't access LinkedIn right now but I'd be surprised if he has more than five years doing anything since Gaga/Atom Factory.
