Your film has to be 40 mins or less for it to be considered sooooo technically..... if her team wanted to submit.... The short film category for the Oscars require the film to not only be screened at a few approved film festivals, but also has to win an award at those festivals I think. And then all those films are pooled together to make a shortlist, and the Academy votes on which of the bunch would proceed into the final nominations.
