Daylight Jokers 14,958
I just released the 2nd single off of an album I'm currently working on (not sure yet when to release). I originally planned on releasing this song next week, but I don't see any reason why I shouldn't release it earlier when it's already very ready. The song is '1996' (I swear, Youtube butchered the sound quality):  This is probably the most personal song I've ever written. It's about my upbringing, how I grew up without a father figure around while my mother's overseas working as a nurse, trying her best to provide me a better life. While this song is my way of saying thank you to my mom, it is also a letter to my father. It's written in a 2nd person perspective. Also, I don't know the genre of this song lol. Here's the acoustic version: and here's the s l o w e d + r e v e r b version: Lyrics: Spoiler She had him at 38 In 96, she used to wait She'd show you pictures of a newborn baby A crying little boy she thought you'd like to see But you never returned Never returned Tell me, what was running on your mind In 1996 (in 1996)? Why'd you have to leave the boy behind In 1996 (in 1996)? If all you cared about is yourself Why do you have to pop the question And pretend? Thought you said he's your one of a kind In 1996 (in 1996, in 1996) For years, he's used to farewells Overseas, she worked like hell She tried her best to feed him well Fought her way through stormy weathers, no one could tell I doubt you could do that There's no ****in' way in hell that you can possibly do that Tell me, what was running on your mind In 1996 (in 1996)? Why'd you have to leave the boy behind In 1996 (in 1996)? If all you cared about is yourself Why do you have to pop the question And pretend? Thought you said he's your one of a kind In 1996 (in 1996, in 1996) As the years go by He grew up with a lie He thought you jumped out of a plane When he asked, that's what she explained As ridiculous as it seemed It was a reality he made peace with To think of you already dead The guy who's s'posed to be his dad (dead dad, dead dad, dead dad, dead dad) Tell me, what was running on your mind In 1996 (in 1996)? Why'd you have to leave the boy behind In 1996 (in 1996) If all you cared about is yourself Why do you have to pop the question And pretend? Thought you said he's your one of a kind In 1996 (in 1996, in 1996) Tell me, what was running on your mind In 1996 (in 1996)? Glad she left the worst days all behind, In 1996 (in 1996) Cuz all you cared about is yourself and in hindsight, they're better off without you anyway Cuz you ain't good enough to raise a child, In 1996 (in 1996, in 1996) Lemme plug the lead single for this album as well: Spoiler  Spotify and Apple music links: https://ampl.ink/Vey0R People who may be interested: Spoiler @kaelergrey @ProjectJoanne @littlepotter (cuz you seem interested when I made the Broken Eyes thread ) @GAGASEXUAL @gagaschickens @Twitter

Franch Toast 25,220
I really love this song, especially the acoustic version! But my heart is broken that you had such a tough childhood.  I hope creating this music has been healing for you. She/Her/Hers

I honestly thought I never cared for my father, but when I was writing this song, I realized I do care, and that I am angry at him and this was my way of releasing that pent-up anger I never knew I had towards him. It's true that writing songs is therapeutic in some ways.
Chesescake 3,398
There're lots of artist on GGD, but thus is the best one I ever heard. But I think the low voice is kinda unclear.
