Diane Warren mocks WAP

How are they right? :billie:  Lana was wrong on everything, and Diane... well yeah, its true she's a world renowned songwriter who has grammys. But she should know better than anyone else that not every song has to be deep or be lyrically a masterpiece - she wrote Why Did You Do That? for ASIB after all :billie:  so its kind of hypocritical of her to slam Cardi B for making a song that doesn't have that deep a meaning other than female empowerment, when she was involved with writing a similar track.

Lana was a mess. Nothing she said was correct and she was just bitter that no one pays attention to her.

If you didn't get that Why Did You Do That was a supposed  to be a parody of the shitty music that fills most of the charts today like WAP and was meant to be understood as comedy unlike WAP, well then...

Lana pointed out the difference between critics treatment of her music and the relationships portrayed in them specially in the beginning of her career vs how critics portray other artists with similar positions today like the artist listed in her list.

But because people are so obsessed with race and colour they latched only immediately onto the beginning of her statement without even trying to understand it.

There were probably a lot of probably who listened to her music and identified with what she was speaking about, and probably would've defended her before but because they are so obsessed with race and colour they couldn't even try to reason what she was talking about.

You only have to look at the ratings theneedledrop gave lana over the years to see she was right-

If she had such an issue, she shouldn't have bothered to answer to phone to Gaga to write that song :bear:  Its not like Cardi's entire discography is full of songs talking about a wet ass pu$$y, is it? Real recording artists can have shallow and fun songs to release, and if she doesn't agree or doesn't like those types of songs, she should have just sat there and ate her food :bear:

Well, I don't think her comments should be taken seriously tbh. She's known for being shady and fooling a little bit. Like that time she shaded Sam Smith for 'robbing' Gaga and her at the Oscars.

She's messy :bear:

Yes, it was supposed to be intentionally shallow. It still doesn't mean that every song an artist releases needs to be deep or lyrically amazing. Miss Warren shouldn't have taken the job if she had such a problem with writing those songs :billie:  Cardi has deeper songs, fun songs, shallow songs, boss ass bitch songs...

Lana (and her fans) don't understand that the genre she mainly makes (an alternative artist) is pretty niche. Compared to pop or dance music, alternative music is not consumed by the masses. The fact she can't get a top 10 record has nothing to do with what she claimed, but the fact people don't enjoy her style of music that much. Don't Call Me Angel was her biggest hit in ages... and thats because people were more interested in Ariana Grande or Miley than Lana - no shade.

Her attack on successful women was really bitter because she failed to grasp that simple concept. If Lana Del Rey did an electropop banger, it would get more attention than her current stuff. She could write the most beautiful lyrics over dance beat, and it will get eaten up. But great lyrics over a depressing instrumental is boring. Not to mention that some of her songs literally feed into abuse and things.

The fact you are trying to use TND as a credible source is hilarious :billie:  He isn't the be all and end all of music. He has his opinions, thats fine. But it doesn't mean anything.

1. Why did you do that? was not just meant to be intentionally shallow, its meant to be satire, COMEDY. If Cardi had promoted her music as satire or comedy, then Yh she did a good job.

2.Lana was not talking about commercial success in the slightest. She was talking about how her music was handled by critics = ripped apart. And was not saying ‘why am I not more successful like these ladies?’ She was just saying, not really even asking, can she go back to making music about being weaker in relationships or being abused without being told by critics that she was literally the antithesis of feminism.

3. I don’t hold TND as a a credible source at all. That’s why I brought him in. He’s an exact example of how critics first slaughtered Lana saying that she was saying glamourising violence and jut another stupid girl fantasising about being Lolita. But as her career progressed were more open to her songs and views on relationships.

Lyric of the CENTURY :firega:

Spoiler

lol the song is a satire and is on-point with mimicking today's shallow pop lyrics
