They will get to give two songs 11 instead of one on the next Megarate! **** Vespertine (2001) is the fourth studio album by Björk. Björk wanted to make an album with an intimate, domestic sound, deviating from the sonority of her previous studio album Homogenic. The production thus uses instruments such as the harp, the celesta, clavichord, strings, and custom music boxes made specifically for the album. Underneath these instruments resides a collection of microbeats made with household items, such as shuffling cards and cracked ice. Thematically, the album tackles love, sex, and relationships, as well as hope. Björk finds inspiration in artists such as E.E. Cummings and Sarah Kane. Vespertine peaked at #19 on the US Billboard 200 and at #8 on the UK Albums Chart. It was widely acclaimed by critics, with praise centered on its erotic, intimate mood and sonic experimentation.
