Will BLACKPINK be the first Korean Grammy winners?

We are 44 days away from the Grammy eligibility deadline, which means days are counting down before Sour Candy won't be eligible for any nominations which I think is an actually good idea, which is to push "Rain On Me".

Now, if Gaga was wise with her decision, she would release in September - October or atleast promote it as the 4th single, using the remaining hype from Rain On Me, to boost up charting for a solo single.

Now, BLACKPINK are no strangers to any Grammy eligibility as they were confirmed to be sent and pushed for Best New Artist nomination, which sadly never happened.

However, "Chromatica" has the least odds of winning alongside "Future Nostalgia" to win Album of the Year. For years, "Album of the Year" has a rule in which states that all who have: produced, written, and sang in the respective album to be recognized.

The rule is:

"For albums containing at least 51% playing time of new vocal or instrumental recordings. Award to Artist(s) and to Featured Artist(s), Songwriter(s) of new material, Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s), Mixer(s) and Mastering Engineer(s) credited with at least 33% playing time of the album, if other than Artist."

If Sour Candy does not get nominated for any Grammy nomination (which is very unlikely unless BLACKPINK has a collab with them as a main artist.), a nomination for Chromatica (atleast in the Album of the Year expertise) still recognizes them as a nominee for the respective award.

Anyways, let's just wish that AOTY goes to Gaga.

Also, for those who still is questioning about the "Album of the Year" rule, it actually recognizes.

An example of this is: Imogen Heap producing "Clean" for Taylor Swift's 1989, which gave her another nomination and a WIN. It isn't exclusive for winning albums though.

An example of the former will be Beyoncé being recognized as a nominee for The Fame Monster, which sadly lost.

Even if Chromatica doesn't win AOTY, Blackpink will be nominated at least. When was the last time a Korean act was nominated for that?

It was Jo Sumi who won in 1993 for Best Opera Album. No, ARMYs, BTS isn't counted for Best Recording Package.

Sour Candy doesn't need to be released as a single for it to be submitted tho, it's released already :poot:

Would BP get an AOTY nom tho? They didn't producer/write SC therefore their only credits would be as a performing artist, is it enough for a credit? :oprah:

Allegedly the rules changed since then. Featured artists, songwriters, producers, recording engineers/mixers and mastering engineers who are credited with less than 33% of playing time do not receive a statuette, but a Winners Certificate.

If I don't recall bad, Bruno Mars was credited for 25's win, and he is only credited as a writer on All I Ask :oprah:
