The thing is, after ARTPOP Gaga had her incomparable TALENT to fall back on and prove time and time again that her excellence was unmatched. As much as I like Katy, she is universally perceived as nothing more than a cute pop singer with some bops. She is simply not talented enough to bounce back based on that alone.
