FfFfFfFF 54,014
Some interesting things from the podcast: - she felt better and more included in London than in the countryside - her College teacher said she isn't skilled enough to do music - EP1, EP2 and LP2 differ from her latest records in the sense that she was younger, flexible and 'free' - media attention and health problems of hers and her family gave her a writing block - Cellophane, thousand eyes and mirrored heart and daybed were the first songs written for Magdalene, the album was shaping up to be a heartbreak album even though this wasn't what she wanted Spoiler - LP2 was, in her early vision, supposed to be femme, faboulous and extravagant but she decided this wasn't who she was at the moment - she loves the Cellophane memes - she writes songs all the time, sometimes she even writes fully a realised song a day for 3 weeks apart from demos and song ideas but she waits for the right songs to gather until she subconsciously feels like the album was done - there are many outtakes from Magdalene, done with different producers - she doesn't like to replicate someone else's music Spoiler - before the knew she had fibroids, she assumed she had cancer and thought she is going to die - she thinks black women being affected by fibroid tumors is linked to diet (sugar-heavy food, non-organic meat etc) but also ancestral trauma - her face structure and profile reminds her of her Jamaican and Egyptian ancestors and feels like it's uplifting and this is the reason why in her early career she used a lot of side-profile pics - for a time, because of racist remarks from people looking in the mirror she would see the profile of a monkey
