Maybe. But the fact that the situation is preventing as many new releases from big artists is also helping offset the downsides so the net impact could he closer to neutral than we think

Gaga had already started her era so she had to continue plus she was lucky she already filmed the video for second single too

Many other artists that hadn't started it are no doubt putting it off

So Gaga has less competition now than usual especially in pop

Lets home there is some sort of silver lining in this for her! Its just a really weird situation having a recently released album that is getting literally zero recognition from the artist simply because there can’t be

know this isn't the point, but where there's no new album releases this week because of the BlackoutTuesday does that mean we have a second week at No. 1?

This is fantastic and all, but... I can't help but notice that ARTPOP didn't sell THAT much less in its first week *cough* :enigma:

ARTPOP had whatever residual momentum was left from Born This Way AND it was 7 years ago when sales were much higher :oprah:

HEARTSTOP

This album was made for clubs. People can't go to clubs right now, so they will soon "forget it", at least until we're back to normal.

Also, streaming platforms reported a drop in streams of up to 50% during the pandemic. I guess people stream to go to the gym and while doing other stuff, not when they're alone at home.

Considering that she also didn't promote it at all after it dropped, and has had her site closed for almost 2 days, while people all over the world riot, these numbers are great. Specially the physical sales, but she was always great at that.

Those streaming numbers could be problematic in subsequent weeks...

Glad someone else is picking up on this - the drop from 48m to 16m in 6 days :enigma:really hope interscope have seen it and have a good plan in place :enigma:

Stare at the Chartster in the mirror they talk to me too. #StreamFunTonight

I think any artist gaining in pure sales between 2016 and 2020 is a win!!

ROM’s already smashing.

and unlike Shallow it’s smashing in the US at the same time as other huge markets.
